Better put your seat belt on..... I am not running these in the rear, at least not yet until I figure out if I like them on the front. After testing the front, I will probably move them to the rear and test them there. I am not shaving the sidewalls yet though. If I dont like them on my 2.2p car, I am going to put them on my mini unlimited car as I think they will be perfect there. Might be tough to shave them and get them narrow enough? I took .9" out of the center. From the looks of it, it would be tough to get .2" from shaving the side wall. I hope so! The bigger the hop, the more traction youre getting. | |

I got a couple of minutes to run yesterday with the new tires. Two caveats, one is that the temperature was about perfect, which here in Utah, means everything. When its 100* or more, its hard to make some of these lines but when it drops to 75-80*, it all becomes pretty possible. It was in the good zone yesterday, for sure. Second is that no tires really work good at this location. They all suck. The only thing that makes a huge difference here is having sidewalls. I think its just because the sidewall can give a tiny bit more traction and when you have none, thats a great thing. Either way, I was pretty impressed by the new tires. At least at this location they killed it. Sidewalls and extra height meant a lot. I think I want stiffer foams but its hard to tell. The only down sides that I found was that since they are so big, when they hook, there is some working out to be done (kinda clumsy like) the other is going back to the shallow area for the wheel face to sit it. It really bothered me that the wheel face protrudes so far out. Here is a climb that is pretty difficult. I have probably only made it 2-3 times with a shaved sidewall tire and a decent amount of times with a tire that does have a sidewall. https://youtu.be/UkRhFNkRvbQ |

Just some random crawling so you can see how slick the rock is and how difficult it can be and how the tires react. https://youtu.be/2jMTu6JbHdg |

This last line was pretty impressive. I have only made this maybe 4-5 times total so it is a beast! I credit making it to the temperatures but also the height of the tires. I dont usually make the line where I do, I have to get lucky and crawl the left side. Because the tires were so tall, it made it so I didnt have clearance issues and fall off the line. Usually when I front dig where I am, I diff out and belly out and it throws me to the ground. So, two thumbs up from this guy for making the line! I will test them on more familiar rock or I should say more predictable/grippy rock to see how they do. https://youtu.be/YeF_6sZaQaQ |

Well, I promised to test on some known rock but I went somewhere else instead. I have always wanted to visit "City of rocks" Idaho. How could you go wrong with suck a place? Well, I went camping out there and all the rock was more or less too steep to drive. It was cool to drive what I could though. If I remember right, it should be similar to Cedar City and the tires worked good here so I am going to trust them enough to run them at the Rumble on the Rocks comp next month. |

If you look at the first above pic, you can see the tires feathering. This compound is soft! I have only ran a handful of packs through and the leading edge is mostly gone. I was hoping these tires would be simialr to Rovers where when you break them in that they will not have the divots in the tread. Looks like these dont want to do that though so I am moving on to a fuller foam. Going to try 6.0 closed cell with soft outers. I think they will work good. |

I got my CI foams (Thanks Eddie!) and threw them in. First, I wanted to narrow them up though. If you look at the picture below, you can see how they treat a narrowed tire. They bulge them out and the tire is significantly wider at the sidewall. So, I narrowed the foam from approx 1.35" to 1.1". I want to take all my VooDoo apart and do this also. I will see how it works in these first. 1.35" CI, 1.1" CI, bulged VooDoo |

Putting in the CI foam raised the tire from 5.6" to 5.7". Travis,.. you must have really filled those tires with foam to get them to 6"! On the left, you can see how it changed the profile from the one on the right and if you look at the angle of the axle tube, you can see how much more clearance it gave from the foam supporting the weight of the car. This really makes me even happier with these tires as long as they still perform well. |

I think that's just your crooked truck making it look like that So who's going to start selling narrowed versions of these tires now? Two years ago there would have been 3 new vendors already doing it. |

yeah,, you can clearly see that the side with the narrowed tire filled with CI goodies is maby 5mm higher than the fluffy tire,, and 5-6mm is alot in this world.. GREAT WORK!! |
