Looks good... I knew you'd get the new chassis. Just had a feeling,
Look below.
Yea, the 4.0 was working good. Then Y-Town had to go and make a better chassis.

Got about 6-7 packs in the rig today. Still crawling good. I was running 40wt up front and 55wt out back. During the heat of the day the oil got thinner. Might have to bump up some wt. I like a little thinner oil for those rock racing times.

Truck will grab on sidehills and the servo does alot more work on moving the rear around. I have always been a slow crawler due to the pin tires I run. The light weight setup likes slow speeds, "bumps" on some verticals and turning the rear motor mix up and down a little more.

Got some videos uploading now. Might take a while.

reduced the weight by ~0.2 oz overall. or ~12 grams.
Doing so moved the balance point forward 1/32"

Probably could drill out some more weight but it's good for today.

Is that 5 lbs 3 oz, or is it really 5.03 lbs? If it's 5.03, you are only 1 gram away from a 4 lb rig.

Those big ol tires just look wrong on there

You know you could drop a at least 2 more ounces by running shaved claws.

Waiting for the video....

Faces looked like they turned out pretty good! Everytime I cut CF I think of all the hardcore guys cutting things out of CF by hand or with a dremel. I cannot imagine hand cutting this stuff. I think the dust alone would kill me!

Thanks for posting up total weights with the tires. I knew they weighed more but I thought I read that they were much more than what you have so I have never even given them a chance.

Whatever the scale reads. .Some plastic axial hollow rod end ball joints might fix that.
It's 5.03 lbs
And thanks for the comm cuts last weekend.
The Holmes Hobbies 2012 Team TorqueMaster Pro's are zipping like crazy!

I've seen the boss claws in action. The Khaos-Rovers work well as a great all around tire for me. These are getting close to well worn out and will get replaced sometime, maybe
Switching to the DLux wheels (1/2" Spacers, ~0.9" wheel width) it did tall them up a touch.
Having GoPro video conversion issues.

Losi MRC silvers on all 4 corners. SCX pre-load adjusters cranked all the way down.

I cut these in like 30 minutes, including drilling time. You see I got sloppy and didn't sand them completely true on the edges. That shafty chassis I cut turned out better cause I took my time.
I cut outside, use rubber gloves, long sleeve shirt, safety glasses and painters mask. A metal cutting disk on the dremel makes quick work of carbon fiber. And a hard sanding bit to clean everything up.
Been crawling with the Khaos-Rovers since Oct 2010

Couple more of some light practice.

This rock is pretty darn slick and had a light covering of pollen.

Thanks.

The video doesn't show good but some of the sidehills are pretty steep. Knock the rear down to 95% or 90% and it sidehills for days. I am amazed when sidehilling, I can dig, and it will pull up the face, if some traction is available. I really like that about the lighter setup. It would push off the side and fall down with previous setups. The 4.0 chassis sidehilled well too. With other chassis I ran, previous to the YTC 3.5 and YTC 4.0, I was nervous on sidehills but that could have been my setup. Just seemed they would unload and loose traction and then go tumbling.

Also, I was worried about my foam setup but I am running the same foams as before with the 5.4lb setup.
Crawler Innovations Closed cell 5.5" inners all around with softs outers up front and medium outers out back. No tuning rings.
Sanding the sidewalls on the khaos helped that out. Still very little bounce. that is what the "rock racing video " is for. To kinda show that.

...

Nice pics! Shane...I'm surprised you haven't worked on your transmission cases yet...I don't mean removing the screw hole at the front...I'm definitely a fan of leaving those front and rear, but you can still shave them and the rest of the cases down...

I thought about it. But then got busy working on something else. My attention span is fairly short. I was thinking about taking them down to a local machine shop and having them lighten them up but then I got busy doing something else.

Might tear them apart this weekend and grind on them a little bit.

yea but you still think a bonus gate is worth 2 points.
(Hint, it's 8 more points than that in 2012)

On a separate note, since I flipped the skid around, like I did on the Secret Agent 4.0 with the body, the chassis is very close 3.75" tall or just over. It was meant to be turned the other way to meet the 3.75" spec but I didnt really think about it until some pm'd me about the berg setup and he mentioned the spec when the skid was flipped. Thanks Erin!

It's my fault, the skid was meant to be run the other way. but looking at my picture the top piece I used for measurement is not level. I'll need to recheck later day.

It's the closest place I have to practice (2 hours away) other than my dinky rock pile at the house.

I pretty much just ran lines that we have setup before. Just to see how the new setup handled.

Then Josh and I made 3 more courses just to get some practice in. The pollen definitley added a slip factor to the already slick rock. Maybe it will rain a couple days before the comp and wash it way.
