Bergsta

Ive been waiting about 4 months to build this, Ok story goes like this...

I got offered a Chump RT but Rob and seeing ive been keen to run one for a while i jumped on it.. but due to comitments its just sat waiting and ove the coming months ive been collecting/building parts reay for the new direction...

Then something unexpected happened, i seen Jake (Del Monte) made a cab for the chump, at first i didnt like it but then it grew on me fast lol
So then it was check rules and pen to paper...
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1001.jpg

(You didnt think i would give the design in the first pic do ya? http://www.crawlanz.com/images/smilies/icon/lol.gif )

Then shortly after bam...
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN0993.jpg

Not too bad for my first cab i think.. weight to too shabby for alloy chassis, CF one and alloy hardware would see it in the high 50's
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN0998.jpg

Ive been working on a few things to keep weight down too..

The berg upper link mount is a bulky thing...

http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN0999.jpg

This is the machined one i did for the front...
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1003.jpg

But i wanted to loose more for the rear so i came up with this...
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1000.jpg

Some VP goodies for the front, made some nice brass bushes and new machined tubes (Ti tubes not finished yet)

Oh and weight came in at 1920g with the old electronics, for heavy berg axles i thought it was ok, got a lot more to loose

More to come with new wheels etc as time permits:ror:

I really didnt think i would ever go bodyless, the bj was the only one i liked and with half the crowd runing them i didnt want to look like the rest... you guys know me ive gotta be different and try something else lol.. i must say tho i think i nailed the look on this one:mrgreen:

WB came in at 315mm... The cab was made with 1mm over spec each direction:twisted:

re: Bergsta

So time to share my wiring... being to good sharing guy i am http://www.crawlanz.com/images/smilies/icon/biggrin.gif

Stock ccbec
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1050.jpg

Shortening wiring can give good savings (this was done last build)
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1049.jpg

So this time i needed to step up the game a bit... almost 1/2 stock weight!
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1052.jpg

This is how i lost the bit extra...
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1051.jpg

Time for the ESC's

Sidewinder micros stock 24.5g (each)
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1046.jpg

http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1048.jpg

Stripped and added my wire..
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1053.jpg

You can see i join the switch wires at the board
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1054.jpg

Then held the two esc's together with heatshrink and joined the two power wires
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1055.jpg

Some fresh heatshrink on and weighed
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1059.jpg

Yep thats a loss of about 18g... 32g is not bad for 2 ESC's
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1060.jpg

Size comparision to fxr
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1062.jpg

While looking at weight i thought i would check the weight of what i hold the esc's etc down with...
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1058.jpg

No difference in traditional to the 3m self hooking stuff... im guessing the only way to save here is to use double sided, but i dont like the stuff
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1057.jpg

I tried to get pics of it in the rig.. not easy with a topper is it http://www.crawlanz.com/images/smilies/icon/lol.gif

http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1067.jpg

http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1064.jpg

http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1068.jpg

Ive changed to xr10 hexes, these are machined down and have a snug fit to the 300's and my Ti axles
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1073.jpg

Made some cheages to my servo mount and got 3g less
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1071.jpg

Found these beef rod ends, i think they came in a jato pack? Revo one on the left
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1070.jpg

And current weight
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1074.jpg

Sidewinder micros are different.. more power, better drag, power hungry and after 2 lipo's i could be wrong but i dont think they are as smooth as the tekins :???: still a "thumbsup" for them

Crawls 100x better than the last rig so far.. tackled the climbs around the house it could never do b4, and climbs the losi strugled on this thing was straight up  i cant wait to get even more weight out of it, i reckon theres 150g at least to go

re: Bergsta

Updates...

Ok so last comp was rained out so was bashing the rig up/down steps at home and had a breakage of the rear upper link mount, not a fault of mine, just a snapped screw....
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1175.jpg

http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1177.jpg

So made this to replace them..
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1190.jpg

New one is lighter than the old... two birds one stone:ror:
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1189.jpg

Stock one weighs about 10g
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1194.jpg

re: Bergsta

Next i pulled the rear axle out to see what i could do...

http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1208.jpg

First i made some Ti tubes (just in case my carbon fiber ones fail at the nats this sat) and thought i would check the weight difference...
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1195.jpg

Think i'll stick with the CF ones for a while lol
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1196.jpg

The CF tubes have been holding up well to the punishment, i had one fail but that was me being too heavy handed on the tools when building haha

Next up time to look at the gearbox.. stock weight is 41g
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1207.jpg

Some special gears
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1210.jpg

The final weight... next up i'll be running 5mm lightweight axles and grab some lightweight motors too... not a bad weight for a berg axle hey
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...2/DSCN1212.jpg

Apart for that ive been playing with shock/spring and link setups to find a medium im happy with, all up the rig now weight 19?? rtr... i really need to make some knuckle weights but lack the time to do so atm
