Default The dark side build!!!!!

Ok so im one of those never happy with what i got kind of guys, and im pretty board of my XR. At the last comp one of the club members let me drive his berg and i feel in love. So started the search for some bergs!

I found a killer deal on rcc! these things are built! 300 fronts, rc axlemaster rears, 7075 front tubes with axial chubs and vp knuckles with dlux whieghts, rears got dlux delrin tubes, dlux servo mount and battey mount, dlux shock mounts and lastly 300m 3rd gears. Thanks Illeagle

So i wanted to build my own chassis sence i got pleanty of time on this one. It will end up lookin alot like a T1E SS. but it is not one at all! Its got a lot of insperation from my sniper chassis and the special opps chassis. every thing will be brought closer together.

Stage one paper

Stage two delrin!

Now i need to order up some supplies!

RITE DYE, Make sure its the powder form, 1 cup of water per box, I use 2 boxes and 1 1/2 cup of water. bring to a simmer and let it soak and check it every 15min until you have the right depth of color. Oh and a pinch of salt.

You almost sold another one, but you talked me out of it.

Nice axles and clean job cutting out the chassis! I wish my hand cut chassis looked that good, what's the trick?

Looks good Bela, keep it up!

And like I mentioned, I have a drill jig for gears if you need them done.

That explains a lot! I have a drill press, dremel, and a dimly lit room.

I simmered mine.... But I have read where other people haven't, but it worked for me.

EDIT: Some white Delrin will take the dye better and faster then other brands......

so it took the dark dye no problem. Not what i wanted but its better then PINK!

Had to open up my jig cause these axles are beefy compared to my xr! Got started on the links. I went with alittle bit longer front lowers then my sniper cause im hoping to get alittle more wieght on the rear.

The fronts are highly modified progress chassie front uppers, and the rears a progess lower rears with jatos at the skid with alittle counter boring to turn them into sliders.

So not all of us have a lathe handy so i figure i would giv alittle tech on how i thread 1/8 TI for 3mm.

I use gade 5TI from amazon its not to bad i got 72in for like $28

So 1/8 is alittle to big of an OD to thread 3mm so i just use the dremel the take alittle off

Then i use an ajustable die opend al the way and lots of lube!

Its not a true 3mm but for a plastic rod end it works just fine

That chassis turned out really nice I think.... When I made a set of links for my sons Losi CC I used 4mm hardware and just drilled the Revo ends out to 4mm and it worked out perfect. That's crazy that it took the dark dye so well... I have used the purple, orange that turned out great
But when I did the blue it came out looking brown.
