Looks sweet! You're not worried about snapping those cf steering arms?

Thanks

Yes but the arm is 2.5mm thick 8mm wide minimum plus I use an associated washer under the ball ends to help reduce stress. Only testing will tell if they hold up

Truck sits a bit taller than I envisioned, but I am a fan of high break over clearance, all the CF bits are turning out great. Keep up the great work

I've tested cf arms and they tend to break when the truck is in a bind between rocks...

I would also stay away from cf steering arms. If you can make one out of say 4mm thick sheet then it might become reliable.

But as you said - testing will tell.

Lots of nice details in this build!

Thanks Scorp

The truck is sitting at 90mm, I like high break over clearance, this is why I'm trying to keep my chassis as light as I can.

4mm Now I'm starting to feel concerned, I'll make a spare set in case these fail then I'll bump the thickness.

Finally got my micro pro's in but before starting wiring I made a more bergish electronic plate.

I should be able to put the first pack on the rock this week end if the weather is good enough

Awesome! So did you bend the CF or did you buy it like from DragonPlate?

Not sure if you can bend cf unless you mold it around something.

It an angled cf strip 2mm thick and 25mm wide found in a UK robotic store .

At first glance you only notice one revision, but overlayed there is quite a big change. Amzing work with the CF,especially in the thin support pieces

Thanks Trav the main revision is the front shock mount ( thicker and more forward).

Got my micro pro's wired, they are so smooth compared to fx-r

Havn't had a chance to put the truck on the rock yet, too much snow oustide so I think the first rock my berg will eat would be at sunday's comp.

I'll need another rx to clean up the wiring a bit.

Don't pay attention to caveman tooling

3,65lbs rtr just missing side panels.

You guys were right the cf steering arm didn't hold up verry long.

So I made some thicker one out of scrap laying.

Very nice... So do you think there will be any strength issues with only 3 spacers for the wheels?

Let us know how the beefier steering arm holds up.

How thick is it now?

Have you weighed the new steering arm...just curious if there's actually any difference between it and the VP arm, or any of the other aluminum arms you could use. With it being that thick...doesn't it put the rod end in close proximity to the tire?

Depends on the design, I ran my Dlux D cut like that for a while but my 6 holes didn't hold up.

Thanks man, this can be achieved easily with a killer Dlux rear axle with a touch of rcbros love.

I tried to remove one ring off each side and the bias is still slightly in front of the link mount, I'll leave it as it is for sunday.

The truck is at 3,63lbs with side panels on after a few revision ( wheels swap, ditched the remaining week al screw with ti screw and longer drag link).

I'll let you know but so far they don't flex or moove. Nice and beefy.

I made them out of 2 pieces of 2.5mm cf sanded and epoxied togheter then cutted.

Nope havn't weighted them but they're heavy.

Yes I was to close to the tires and putted more stress on the long screw. I wasn't really happy with my steering. My CHubs screw keept backing up causing to C hub to get floppy then the threads got stripped so I upgraded the screws to 6-32. So far so good, nice and tight. But at full lock my wheels weren't really controlled by the servo causing some bad woobling so I reworked my steering. I've put the tie rod under the steering arm, at full lock the arms are keeping from going any further by the rod end and I switched my drag link the othe side. I feel like I have more servo control over the whole range. Only downside is that I have less approach angle. Still not 100% happy but it feels better than previous setup.

Also made the final "skid"
