Re: New gearbox and gear options just seem like the rite way to buy them instead of paying for all the shiping when some one coild just buy it all form you the first time an not have to wait all the time as well |

Re: New gearbox and gear options What front shafts? What knuckles? What rear shafts? What gears? There are so many options that I cant just give a price in general. If I were to build a set for myself: Front Exceed cases $2.50 Axial C $30 Bully knuckles $10 60* universal shafts $90 Berg front gears with SDS 3rds, RC bro locker $45 plus gears... $30? Dlux tubes $75 Dlux upper link mount $15 Front axle $297 Rear Exceed gear box $2.50 DLUX shafts $90 DLUX tubes $75 plastic gears, RC bros locker $20 Dlux upper link mount $15 Rear axle $203 Total front and rear would be close to $500. You could also knock off $30 if you wanted to use the Exceed gears over the Berg gears in the front axle. That would make these axles the lightest, cheapest (debatable) and possibly some of the strongest all for under $500. I know you too well Randy so let me put some more food for thought in for you and lets see how cheap we can make them. Front Exceed cases $2.50 Plastic XR knuckles $free Plastic XR C $free 60* universal shafts from Wraith $35 If youre really cheap you could do stock Berg dog bones for free. Exceed metal gears, RC bro locker, SDS 3rd $50 Stock tubes $25? Stock Berg upper link mount $free Front axle $113 Rear Exceed plastic case $2.50 Stock Berg dog bones $free Stock tubes $25? plastic gears, RC bros locker $20 Stock Berg link mount $free $47.5 About $160 if you wanted to be cheap and get into the hobby. |
Re: New gearbox and gear options Are the wraith axle shafts the same length as the mt? |

I could have taken a couple things out of the cheap list but I may as well leave them in there since I am sure I forgot to add a couple of things too. |
Re: New gearbox and gear options nope you all were wrong here . i just thought it would be nice to see what they would cost is all. i have over 500 in my xrs an i no to do a breg you have over 500 that seems like a really good way to go for a new guy nice work delux looking to see you beat on a set of these things |
Re: New gearbox and gear options i have tubs an matt has gears an boxs an whats to try this so ill get to see just what thet will do . with not really knowing where the xr is going this is a great op. |
Re: New gearbox and gear options Nice work, many in the future will benefit from your hard work and time researching these new options, hats off to you my friend. "thumbsup" |
Re: New gearbox and gear options Everything seems cool. I think I'd go all plastic just to see what they would stand up to. A sub 4lb rig would probably be OK with plastic... except for the high HP motors everyone seems to be using these days. And even then, good throttle restraint would probably go a long way. Erik... what do those spacers look like? Any pics? |
Re: New gearbox and gear options When can I get the spacers? I ordered the cases and plastic gears today. Cant wait to try this. Later, Farmer |

Re: New gearbox and gear options Pretty crazy we can still molest kits like the good old days. My only fear is possible case flex. It may not be an issue, but I haven't seen a plastic housing yet that doesn't suffer from some case flex which usually always results in the gears taking a good hit. None the less, another option for those getting into the hobby! |

I say the rear will work with the 2nd and 3rd as plastic, not the 4th. For the front, I am going to guess just the 2nd would work, not the 3rd and 4th. http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps1ce0bde4.jpg Quote:

IMO the case is over kill. I was even looking at it thinking after it proves itself that I would shave some material and see how much more can be lost. In the motor mount area its 6mm thick  With the cases in half, I can flex it slightly, with them as whole cases, I cannot flex the case at all. |
Re: New gearbox and gear options Quote:
I'm really wondering about the strength of the plastic gears.. Will the weight savings be worth the loss in stength... |
Re: New gearbox and gear options Quote:
Oh, also, if youre planning on running the plastic gears, you will need to run the MT small gears. If you run Berg gears youre still only going to get 3.5mm worth of engagement. By the pics on the MT website, it looks like those small gears are only good for 3.5mm also but I can only assume they are really good for 6mm? |
Re: New gearbox and gear options The mad scientist is at it like always. Great job Erik on keeping the doors open for people. This and your customer service is what makes you the top vendor on this forum. Great job man. |
