I built a Berg... 1 Attachment(s) After a few aborted attempts to build a pro Truck, bitsa builds, parts bin builds etc, I decided to bite the bullet and go Berg and do it properly. Sourced a set of V1 axles here down under, bit hacked but very serviceable. The came with VP knuckels and no-slop brass bushes so a good start. First thing i did was send them to Hulksta Engineering where he worked his dietary magic, as well as providing a set of Hulk 6mm Ti rear axles...cheers mate! Kept my BJv3 chassis from the Losi attempt and started over. The parts I started with http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t.../P8220131s.jpg Parts List - Berg V1 Axles - modified by Hulksta Engineering - Blitz Pro-wound 35T matched motors - BJv3 Chassis, custom skins - Fronts - were Vanquish Products DH Pro Comps with 3 slugs per - Rears - Proline 2.2 8 Shooters, for now - Sedonas all round - traxxas Big Bore shocks with the Rod End mod & Mini T front springs - Lower links, front and rear are (I think) XR10 Hi Clearance Delrin - Uppers wer homebrew 8mm delrin fronts and axial HC bent rears. - Tekin FXR ESCs - Hitec 7954 HV servo @ 7.4v - CC 10A BEC at 7.4v - Futaba 4Pl and 2106GF rx That resulted in this http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t.../P8220137s.jpg Bit of bling thanks to Mr KLaBeaume http://www.crawlanz.com/download/file.php?id=5887 Then I decided to do it even more proper like and added - a set of VP BERG VVD's - pre release units that had a small machining issue I needed to fix up - VP SLWv2 respun Wheels - VP Ti Uppers, front and rear. - D-Lux Knuckle weights. - CtBM 850m Ah 3s pax. Now it looks like this....ready for season 2013. |

Re: I built a Berg... Looks great big brother. Its good to have another rig in the pro ranks this year. Berg experts if you have some input for this build post up, it would be great to have some experienced help."thumbsup" |
Re: I built a Berg... I love those wheels! what's the weight? |
Re: I built a Berg... With Battery, without knuckel weights, she weighs in at 2125gms, 4lbs 10oz. No lightweight, but no barge either. I am investigating RCBros rear tubes and other forms of exercise, but will run it first to get an idea of how it performs before I start boring holes in things."thumbsup" |
Re: I built a Berg... Choice berg bro. Seeing these builds keeps me wishing all my part were here. |
Re: I built a Berg... nice start man . shave those donnas down an you can save alot od weight"thumbsup" |

Also look into Dlux berg tubes. Super light, slippery, and everything is completely adjustable. Makes things like castor and link spacing way easier when you can choose where the mounts go. You will love your berg. IMHO, the best rig to build on."thumbsup" Xr guys might say different but thats just like ford and Chevy, and this is the Berg forum. |
Re: I built a Berg... Oh, big thanks to Highlucks too for encouraging me to 'do it properly', my Bro also sought out valuable information and vendors for me to read up on and source from. He is an XR guy but his hearts in the right place. thanks Man."thumbsup" |
Re: I built a Berg... I too am a berg 'convert' from an overpriced overweight XR. Once you get the car tuned in a bit, there's no looking back! |
Re: I built a Berg... Berg=Awesome. "thumbsup" |
Re: I built a Berg... I am a Xr to berg guy as well. Never had a problem with my Xr just was sick of running what everyone else was running and maintaining the the gears and tear tear down of the trans cases took too long for me. I sold it and took a year off. Now I'm building my berg and its so much fun machining and making my own parts. Didn't get that fun with the Xr. Very happy with my switch and my truck isn't even a roller. I keep stressing the small details. |
Re: I built a Berg... updates? |
Re: I built a Berg... First comp out on the weekend and it ran OK. I need to shave the tyres and rework my wiring but all up, very happy with the first run."thumbsup" I lost the signal wire on my BEC and that glitched me a DNS for course 3, but pulled some lines I never thought possible before the failure. I just need to get my head around proportional DIG now. |
Re: I built a Berg... looks good bud, and your sig, had me laughing my ass off |
