That car was on F-I-R-E! I forgot to ask how you felt about moving those front lower links down. Did you notice a big difference? |

Thank you! As for the links, i felt in general the front was more stable and better on climbs but i did notice that it didn't settle as quickly on off camber stuff when the inside front tire starts to climb something. You just have to give it a little finesse and it will settle right in and drop the outside front tire down. Overall, it was an improvement. I am excited to see some of the videos. I just hope they look half as cool on video as they were in real life! haha |

Now that i' back in Reno and settled, i got a chance to head down to a BYB comp yesterday. I feel really fortunate to have such a good group to comp with in a now such small community. This car works amazing , it's so planted and stable. The new SAF gears are insanely smooth but the main change i noticed were the shocks. I went from an old set on SCX shocks to a binged set of big bores from Dlux. What a difference. The car just settles in so nice and controlled. I feel like i can just trust it to do what i think its going to with more confidence than i ever have. |

car was working well on Saturday, so well in fact you pulled out the win on a day of really tough courses! (no negative totals for the day) Nice way to come back. What weight shock oil are you running? |

Funny story about the Loaded Dice knuckle weights. On the drive home my girlfriend, who has never seen rc cars, out of the blue goes, "Why does everyone's car land upside down when they flip but yours lands on the tires every time?" Haha, I thought even her noticing is a testiment to how awesome they are!

Yeah if I remember correctly I'm running 40wt, not sure if it's reacting fast enough for me. Whats funny I've been looking over the last couple seasons, and as the year progresses and the weather warms up the better I do. I'm wondering if it's me finally getting back into it (mind set wise) or if the warmer weather is helping my heavier shock oil.

Silicon fluid is temperature stable between -50C to +150C. I'm with dlux, tell your ol lady you're just a bad motherfawker and move on. I've tried that line with my wife but she laughs at me every time. |

When it comes to tuning i'm of the mindset, you need to understand the extremes and work your way back to the middle. Run the thinnest you can find, or no oil at all (just leave enough in there to lube the shock shaft) so you understand the benefits and drawbacks. Then go back up. I think there are a lot of benefits to running no oil at all. When i got these i wasn't going to run oil (just a little to kept the shock shaft lubed) but Erik insisted i try thicker oil. 20wt is me running thicker oil! haha. I'm liking it, the car feels planted and stable but still floppy enough that it settles fast in off camber situations.

So, I went out to Wendover for the weekend to drive with Erik and had a blast. I really like fun crawling and comparing setups. I realized this weekend that my expectations for the lines this car will do are for the most part unrealistically, yet it still amazes me when it pulls them. I run light shock oil (20wt w/ 3 hole pistons) and like my car really soft. I like how planted it makes the car feel. So Erik suggested I test out some Ultra Soft Springs from Davtech. They are much softer than the pinks. I really like them, it made the car feel ever more planted, which I didn't think was possible. I love them!! And check out the clear anodized no preload spring cups. So sexy!!! |
