Default NOT lightweight!

I saw a 7.5+lb Wraith get blown over last Sunday. Lightweight doesn't fly around here... or rather, yeah, it does. In bad ways. Anyways, here's what I'm building around the V1 Berg axles I picked up. It really should be a bit wider but, I'll get there, eventually. This is my 1st attempt at building my own truck from the ground up. Should still cost half what my SCX did with upgrades and perform twice as well.

Should be interesting, better through every strong product there is at those axles! What weight are you shooting for?

I'm not trying for anything, really. Probably around 5.5 already. This will not be a comp rig. I don't compete and I doubt it's legal. Body is too short. Gonna stick an HPI mini recon body on it. Fits perfect. I've got two HH Torquemaster Pro 35Ts on the way. Ordered 2 AE-2s because I can't find any BR-XLs, atm. Already have 2 Savox Digit 4096 servos.

Here is where my problem starts. I don't know what to order for gears to go in these. I've read on here that I might be ok for quite a while on the stock gears. I know I want replacement parts handy though so where do I get them? I've read that I will need Super 300s, as well but, not sure where to find those, either. Any other "strong product" you'd recommend? Chassis is .090 304L SS so it's plenty strong enough. Links are also SS.

Cool. I'm waiting on a bunch of other stuff, too. Might have a unique solution to mounting shocks on links.

Digging it. Should be an awesome hill climber. There was a thread in here a few months back where a guy built Berg Axles with no rules in mind and threw an FJ body on there. It turned out really awesome!

Yeah man, lets see where this goes! I love building for the sake on doing something different, usually ends up something awesome. I have a great MOA jeep that I did, the thing is super fun to drive.

Now, I'm bummed. Just cut through a c-clip on a brand new set of g-made shocks. Freaking dull x-acto blade. Just moved and haven't found my spares, yet.

That's 1tuff40's truck replicated off a local tuff truck, it's a boss. It turned out great, he used the berg axles as they were a closer fit to the real thing. This build sounds good.

No shocks to limit flex but, there's a LOT of it in this thing:

Was it Travis's "the bergalar"? Blue FJ body on it I think? That one was great, those axles looked used and abused!

Got shocks built over the weekend. The collars to mount them arrived from Fastenal today (ordered thru my work for a slight discount). SO... I finally got an idea of what this will do fully suspended. Still a bit of trimming/tuning to do but, here's a pic from this evening:

Gotta run to the LHS tomorrow and hope they have all the connectors I need but, it's getting close. Ignore the Tamiya plug. I didn't know any better when I built my SCX, which I borrowed the esc from to get this rolling. Also replacing the esc bullets with 4mm set to match the motor plugs I already meticulously (re-)learned how to solder on...

Still waiting on a reply from the supplier (NOT Holmes Hobbies!!) but one of the br-xl's had a servo plug coated in epoxy from the waterproofing, I assume. Crappy pic but the shiny shit is not letting me plug anything in there.

LHS didn't have any pass-thru Deans or the correct Y-adaptor, so I made my own. Need to mount the body somehow, and I may add some protection over the electronics but, it runs!

18" WB
23.83" OAL on 2.2 Iroks/Axial beadlocks
12.25" OAW using 1" wideners
Torquemaster Expert Motors and Torquemaster brxl ESCs (WP'd), 35T on 3s
Savox 1231sg Servos soon to be running 6V when I get the 20A BEC back from being "assembled"
85mm GMade XD Piggyback shocks
V1 Bergs, unmodified, running 15T pinions
home-made links using Traxxas ends
home-made chassis using scrap from work

Apologies for the crappy pics. I need a new cell-phone... or a camera.
