Hi !
Not at all
This is 5/32" aluminium sheet. I milled axle fixations at 1/8" to keep original width.
The next step is to reduce aluminium chassis weight

Hi!

More news

It's done, I have installed 4 voodoos with double deuce CI foam, soft at front and medium at rear

Another change: shocks
The berg are too heavy, so I put 3racing

I recycle old springs, shorter and more flexible.
I find them very progressive now

And I turned delrin hubs to reduce axle and wheels (i don't know the right word, sorry ) width by turning the wheels
I am really surprise by the delrin toughness

The battery pack moves on front axle, with homemade( as you can see) aluminium protection

So I can remove weights on front wheels and earn 180g to be at 60/40 repartition

The next step is to be on podium at next (friendly) competition

Really nice build! Been waiting for someone to really dive into the V3! What's your skid height, that's some serious clearance!

Hi

Some news, because a crawler is never finished

I made new axle:

with new supports

Waouh!

I changed upper link support by 2 aluminium parts

After a run where I loose spring support, I turn 2 aluminium parts

I will never lose them

I'm working on new universal joint

The right wheel with new universal joint and left wheel with original part

And I can't get more, because tire touches gear box

I'm really satisfied because I find this is really "the" problem of berg V3.
This is a prototype and I need to optimize it, but it's a good thing

I began to turn pinions to earn weight, but it's not finished.

I can do better

New front wheels too, made in aluminium, with delrin hubs (8mm):

After a crawler meeting at "La couronne" in south of France (a wonderful rocks beach, with a phenomenal grip), the PACA (www.rccrawler-france.com: Forum Dedié aux Crawler et Scales Radio-Commandé en France, Conseils, Astuces pour Créations Chassis Complet, News, Galeries Photos, Liens Utiles • Afficher le sujet - P.A.C.A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

with many sponsors ( a big big thank to them)
I decided to shave a part of front tires to get better stearing.

Next step is unpackage fxr, Rx and minimize wires weight, without forget universal joints and pinions

Hi

Thank you
So the next step is to finish to turn gear box pinions.

I leaved 1mm of metal against 3.5mm before.
I could earn more but I don't want order new pinions set during a run

And I milled rear wheels (1.5g earned by wheel ) but I find they have better look

I need to lighten more the rear axle if I want stay under 2kg.
I still work

I do not know if you know this, but enRoute actually sells already lightend gears, EBG220. But making your own is a part of the fun too

Many people will be happy
It's a good deal, because you don't loose CrV protection. Do you know how many the set weights ?
But, I prefer homemade, when I can

Hi

Some news, after a long time
So first, I changed berg rods end by some traxxas and the difference is really big

I modified front hubs. They are 8mm more and now I have 290 mm of axle width

I made the last version of my CVD ( miss the second, but it's many work )

And i turn the rear wheels to have 275 mm axle width

I modified steering to turn more, without move servo

I put a brass ring between screw and plate

Hi

Last finishes before the "BIG", our crawler and scale meeting .
First, I glued every screw of my berg (I don't know why, but berg screws loosens)

After, I milled and polished the front axle where is striped( where is striped, where is touching)

And I changed bottom big screws by some flat (I haven't picture, but I took savox servo screws )
I hope that will be good

Hi
New internal rings P13 (dedicated to his inventor) ultra light version to exchange the beadlock inernal ring.

25mm width for the rear
I made some rings for voodoo, but too for HB, really more efficiently on wet terrain.
(each year, we have one raining day for the BIG )

17mm width for the front

and the wheel complete, with hub and steel screws

It's really easy to turn. It's just disgusting

And It's done. The Berg goes under 2 kg

A friend has a CNC milling and cut my chassis replacement in carbon(2.2mm)

and 15g earned

Now, I had to be at the machine level, that will be hard
