the kept it quiet build
 

up untill now i have been using a friends (upandover) berg to compete with as i killed the losi again 4th time (its going sporty soon) and decided it was about time i built somthing.
so this was my secret bugdet build which im only posting up now as its nearly finished and has been put through its paces at 1 of the uk nationals (we had 2 nationals?).
i confused a few people the first time out with it as they werent sure what it was.

this is what i was trying to achieve as i liked how my sons bj3 handled but with a bit more clearance

berg axles with lightend gears and machined rear tubes
venom creeper front links and rod ends used through out
home made 6mm top links and rear lower links (soon to be dlux)
venom 55t motors (they were too cheap not to try)
venom creeper wheels and weights (off the losi)
venom short links (rear steering lock outs)
venom wheel hexes front and cheap 5mm thick on rear
rover tyres
tekin escs x2 (couldnt go cheap on escs)
hi ace servo (now a hi tec hs7950th borrowed off my sons creeper)
alloy big bore shocks
castle bec (off the losi)
dlux servo mount
dlux lightweight cross braces
dlux big bore shock ends
novak dig switch

axles sprayed black to try and throw every one off, losi shocks are fitted for working the ride height and the links out .
the green outline is me messing around with side panels.

started to solder the motor wires on also fitted the new big bores all round and started to fit the dlux cross braces in.

thanks fellas. i do have some vids of it which i will post up at the end.

all the shock holes are the same as the bj3. i have also cut some slots in the rails to try and lose some weight, the center section will be lightend at a later date it can lose loads.
also drilled some holes in the side rails which line up whith the link holes so i can tighten the screws up
the silver links are txt steering rods.

finished front top links they are made from some home depo 6mm solid alloy rod and creeper rod ends.

losi shell fitted and roughly cut to shape. (it had to be a losi shell to keep up the deception for as long as possible)

it was also around this time i learned the rear lower links werent up to the task now that it was all wired up and a freshly painted shell on it,
so i had to make some more links they didnt come out the same as the txt versions slighty bigger bend but i fitted them anway.

the lipo tray sorted from a piece of scrap, the servo link is just a bit of 3mm threaded rod (still the same now) and the bec is hiding behind the servo.

had to trim the body for the lipo to clear when the axle articulates.

plenty of ground clearance, the wheel base measured with the shocks compressed is 12.5" and when at normal ride height is less than 1/4" shorter.

you can see the reciever and dig switch sat between the middle section you also should be able to see the two bulges in the sides body to clear the rear shocks.

ready to run with body and battery it weighs over 5lb how much by i cant remember, its in bits right now waiting for some parts and also to have some excess material removed i would like to get it into the 4lb range which should be possible with the revised version.

this can be bodied or bodiless, i put the losi shell on it to hide everything there is a cab ready for cutting out,
did any one notice the little white spacers on the frame i just take the spacers out and the cab will be attached where they used to be.

heres a video of the very first time i run it. (my run starts at 7:19 into the vid)
this is when i found out the hi ace servo werent up to the task and the venom motors were cheap for a reason.
