Default Link length help

So, I'm hoping to get started on some links for my berg and was wondering what length links I should aim for. I have a Chaotic Special LW chassis and Dlux axle tubes w/ his lower link/shock mounts. If I could get and eye to eye measurement that would be awesome. I only really need the lower link lengths, after that uppers are easy.

don't get discouraged
it is easy enough to measure, but one of the better ways is to get some allthread.
8-32 if you are going to use the larger traxxas rod ends. easy enough to cut and bend.
cheap enough to keep making them till it is where you want them. hint start out big, bigger than
what you might think you need, then if it is too long start trimming.
home depot has 12" lengths, get at least 8 of them. or get 2 of the 36" pieces.

once you have the length and shape of you want, you can make real ones of your own using the allthread ones
as templates, or you can buy something close for a bunch of money.

the usual target is just under 12 1/2 inch wheelbase at full extension

every build is unique and you will get more out of the hobby.

Have you tried PM'ing Chaotic Crawlers? They might be willing to divulge the info you seek.

I've though about doing this but the last time I messed with all thread it was a pain in the ass. I really need to get a band saw.

Thanks, now I have a starting point. BTW, is that eye to eye? I'll start here and then go longer if I need to.

I know what you mean,
it is a pain in the ass (and in the ankles and in the knees) getting up in the mornings
but then I think about all the crawlers I have to work on and I force myself to get up

Where the hell did this come from? We went from link lengths to getting up in the morning.

(Measure, cut, test.) x 100.

When you have a stack of 20-40 links in front of you that did not work as well as the ones on your rig you'll know you are running the perfect set of links for you driving style and rig. There is no correct link length.

Ah, I see. It was late and it went way over my head. I guess it's one of those one time at band camp things. And I already wake up with a sore ass. I think I need a wider seat for my "bike."

I usually start out way long and then shorten from there. As soon as I get some more all thread I'll start experimenting.
