Default Josh's so called "Berg" Double Agent

I have been running my xr10 axles for 2.5 years now and for the last few months have been looking into making the jump to a berg.
I was pointed in the direction of a set of dlux/mt axle set for a really good deal. So I jumped at the chance.

I have had these sitting around for a few weeks now as I did not want to change axles 3 weeks before the Crawl ANZ nationals.
So with that run and won it was time to tear down and get ready for some new TI links.

First a quick run down on the parts list

Front:
MT gearboxes
Dlux delrin tubes & servo mount
Dlux upper link mount
Dlux berg to mt adaptor kit
Rcbros locker
Dlux modded universal axles
Vp wraith chubs and knuckles
Rcbros gears & sds small 2nds & 3rds (dlux bigpond modded)
Rcbro$ Y-Town weight knuckle weights with tungsten slugs

Rear:
MT gearboxes
Dlux delrin tubes
Dlux upper link mount
Dlux berg to mt adaptor kit
Rcbros locker
Dlux aluminium axles and delrin hubs
Rcbros gears & sds small 2nds & 3rds (dlux bigpond modded)

Chassis:
Y-Town Crawlers Double Agent with aluminium braces
Krawler Konceptz skins.

Wheels & Tires:
Y-Town xl series meths & Gold voodoos narrowed myself
CI double deuce foams 6inch inners compcut soft front medium rear outers also narrowed.

Shocks:
Scx shocks
Bodies shortened by 5mm ,shafts 8mm shorter traxxas bladders.

Motors & Electronics:
Brood 30T SISU skewed mag motors
HH brmini escs
Cc bec
Protek 170S servo with robitronics servo horn.

I have some pics uploading now and will add them once done.

Alrighty..

So here is a few pics of the dlux adaptor kit and the clearancing needed on the inside of the case.

This is the non motor side of the case, I ordered full bearing and adapter kit so everything needed was supplied.

This is the clearancing needed for the large 2nd gear on the motor side of the case. Other than this the only other thing need is to drill a 5mm hole through the motor side 2nd bearing.

Here is the full rc bros/ sds gearset and rcbro locker in the case.

Complete axle including dlux delrin hubs.

The axles in my rig jig (care of onetencrawlers.com.au) with a set of mock up motors and my bls157 servo ready for some 4mm lower and 1/8" upper links.

Hoping to have the links sorted in the next week or so.

Josh

Awesome! Been waiting for this build!

Did you happen to get a weight of the front end?

Great start on your build . You choose a great set of axles you can't go wrong with D_Lux parts . I'm loving that jig

Thanks I love the way these axles look and the ease of working on them.

I didn't get a front weight but when I have it off the jig I will grab a weight.

Everything I have that dlux has touched is great quality, the rig jig is awesome, it even allows you to set the chassis up with an angled skid.

So I have been waiting on some new goodies to get this thing sorted out.

I got the parts I was waiting on so,I could do the mock up links.

Front lowers came up a little short so the motor is clocked down, I have adjusted the final measurements to compensate this.

A few more deliveries and this truck will be back up and running.

First up is the double agent one piece skid

Rob_b did an amazing job on this skid again

Here is some pics of the linked up car. I was having trouble with chassis and motor interference on the rear. So I decided the classicut gearboxes would solve these issues.

Hoping to get the ti cut to length this weekend.

That front on shot is pure stealth, looks awesome.

Shame I need to wait 12 months to see it in person.

So I managed to get the links cut and threaded over the weekend.

I took a few pics of how I went about it for anyone interested.

First I used the cutters to rough cut the ti rod to length.

Here is the links ready to be threaded. The ends were cleaned up and chamfered on the lathe. The long link is for my shafty steering.

First thing was to set the rod out of the chuck, the distance will depend on how much thread you want to cut, I decided to cut 15mm for some adjustment.

I used the tail stock to keep the die straight and also keep pressure on it as the thread started to take.

This is the cutting fluid I was using. Works a treat

I ran the die right down to the chuck, all the thread cutting was done by hand. This is what was left after threading.

A threaded link compared to unthreaded.

Hope to have the links bent up this week and get all the lower link mounts set in location and bolted down.

So i got my links all bent up.

I also had a package from dlux turn up this week which included a set of ofna style unis, delrin v2 knuckles with slugs and holes and the biggest bearings Erik offers.

I have set up for non 8* kingpins as i have only ever run 8*.

These knuckles make steering stops a breeze. i have used cheap hobbyking spacers and an AL buttonhead bolt.

I have mocked up steering links and will get them made from TI this week.
All i have left todo is make a battery mount, swap in my BROOD SISU rear motor and grease the gears.

So i got my steering links made over the last couple of nights.

My draglink is straight 1/8th TI, tierod is 4mm TI with slight bends.

You can see the slight bend in this pic.

full steering throw right.

full steering throw left.

Ride height.

Full compression

Finally a flex shot.

Getting very close to the maiden voyage this sunday at our local cANZ comp

Thanks
My dlux knuckles are drilled and I have brass slugs to go in them, I also have tungsten putty if needed.

I got some more work done tonight,

Made myself a battery mount, it is a pice of 25x40x1.5mm aluminium angle bolted to the front gearbox.

The view from the underside

Side on view at full droop

Side on views at full droop and stuff with a 430mah maxamps 3s battery

Lastly a pic of the DLUX knuckle with three brass weight slugs installed and held in place with a countersunk screw and washer.

Gearboxes are greased up with motors installed and pinion mesh set, so now all I have left to do is reinstall my smash and it should be good togo.
