| Berg 2.2 V3 Gera Box Screws
I recently purchased a Berg kit and facing a challenging problem. The gearbox screws are so tight that while trying to unscrewing them i damaged one on the front and one in back. Is there a remedy or i am doomed? https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resi...nt=photo%2cJPG -Ivan |

Put a cut off wheel on your dremmel and cut some steel until the wheel is barely small enough to stay on the shaft. It should be small enough to cut a single groove across the screw head allowing you to use a regular screw driver to back the screws out. Be careful and cut a single straight, narrow, sufficiently deep groove. Use a screw driver in new condition. You only have one shot. Accept the fact that you will likely score your cases too. Small price to pay that can be covered up with some black sharpie. J | |

A lot of guys use a thread locker like Loctite to stop the screws from backing out. Carefully apply a small amount of heat from your soldering iron or a mini propane torch. That will soften the thread locker and they will easily com out. And I agree with SkaldidDogs method as a last resort USE New allen wrenches and don't use Stainless hardware. They look cool but are not as strong a steel and they love to seize up (cold flow). Tom G |

Thank you for the suggestions. I want to point out that the parts come out from the original box like that. At the factory, they have tighten and i guess locktite the screws with an incredible force. Is this standard procedure? If such force is required shouldn't they use stronger screws? Believe or not my attempt to unscrewing the gearbox was done with a standard allen. |

OEM anything has a high probability of sucking. "They" are Often Engineering Morons, more concerned with cost and appearance than performance and durability. Do it yourself. Make it better. J Last edited by SkaldidDog; 12-02-2014 at 12:28 PM. |

Friends, Two simple tools saved the gearbox: a torch and a screw extractor which you can buy at your local hardware store. I am sharing this to help other beginners in the same scenario. https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resi...nt=photo%2cJPG Am i a complete fool or you really have to open the gearbox to install the motor? https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resi...nt=photo%2cJPG |
