| Stock small 2nd gears!!
Okay, I can't find these gears anywhere. TCS shows one in stock, but it was a no go when I placed the order. I have a chewed up gear I need to replace. I've checked all the usual venders. Any body know who still has them for sale or who maybe has one lying around their willing to part with? Perferably new or in good shape. Thanks.

Shoot! Sorry man. I wish I would have known. I have a couple of small 2nds that I can sell you. PM me if you still want them. I can still order all the gears/parts I want from Enroute, I am just waiting to see where the market goes with gears. If somebody makes a good small gear, there is not really a need for stock and I dont want to be sitting on bunch if thats the case. |

You are correct Kev! I bought out all the remainder of their stock and will be ordering a big batch when I start getting low on these. Long live the Berg! Lol Barry

Barry, it would be great if we small vendors begin working for the greater good. I guess I will cancel my 2nd and third order..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I didn't see this being a result. After a solid gap of no one grabbing this I just sank money into getting things rolling. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by RcBro; 01-23-2015 at 09:08 AM. |

Thanks for the replies and PM's. Dlux saved the day! Hopefully we'll have a more durable option for the small 2nd and 3rd gears again someday. They would compliment the RcBro gears that we run now.

Is anyone stepping up to plate here with the small alloy gears? This is something I can look into. I can make the blanks from 300m and have a friend hob the profiles. Does anyone know the hardness SDS made his at? 52-55 HRC seems to be the normalized state. |

Doug, that is what I was referring to. The 300m is not needed. But a hardened 4340 to match my gearset is something I've been working on. Whether there worth the investment. Is the question Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yea, 4340 and 300m are almost the same. Cool, I'll still look in to some things but I won't go forward without checking with you first. |

Imo there is a market for the gears. If someone doesn't step up then we will all be sol if and when we need one! Thanks to all the vendors for jumping on this gapping hole in the berg! |

Yes there are a few that would want or maybe need them.. but a market for them, don't see it at all... and anyone who knows me, knows that this is hard to admit...... just look at the comp sizes, and how many are viewing the berg threads.. what 2 to 4 people maybe at once.... there are a few things I would like to have made for the berg, there is just no market.. thumbs up to all the venders that still make berg parts... and one last note: I hoarded Mann Gears..........so im good..... JMO... Last edited by roksloski; 01-24-2015 at 09:44 PM.

| Re: Stock small 2nd gears!! Well..... It is true. I think the market is very very small for several reasons. One they are expensive because of the small quantities required and the expensive production costs. I think Will sells his at near cost and even still they don't sell like hot cakes. Rc4wd made some incredible gears in both cost and quality and value. However they decided to discontinue them because "they sat around and didn't sell that fast. The demand for gears is quite small...... We are a very small market compared to the rest of R/C and don't get manufacturer attention. The fact that these gear are so durable means that replacement is not that frequent. How many gears did XRs go through compared to Bergs?? I remember Winnerone23 telling me he had a draw full of XR gears. I have a few spare gears but in 8 years I have not broken a Berg gear yet or needed replacement ones. I am still running a set of stock gears from years ago that I spent days drilling and lightening with a Dremel tool. In today's world these gears are probably still over built driving 4lb trucks. We are just less hard on gears as we were 8 years ago running 10lb trucks! I think we can talk all we want about the market....... But let our PayPal accounts do the rest! That said...... Even though the market is small there is still a need for quality Berg gears and I am going to do my best to assure that the market lives on and we have gears to build quality trucks with. I have a order in for a 2-3 year supply of gears and I plan to see the Berg live on....... Last edited by ClassiCutCustoms; 01-25-2015 at 10:17 AM. |
