| Dirt builds a berg
So I got tired of dealing with jumping XR gears and decided to go Berg. Specs: Axles: Lathed down tubes, Milled gearboxes, Lightened gears, unknown CVs, 5mm chromoly rear shafts. (thanks rude_k9 I owe you one) Chassis: team edition chaotic chassis. Wheels: ci or 3d printed. tires: rovers or boss claws or voodoos or sedonas or bully tires electronics: brminis, crawlmaster 13t, futaba 4pls, hitec 7950. This might be kind of a slow build. I am a full time college student. Eventually the lockouts, tubes, wheels, gearboxes will be 3d printed. The chassis may even get a 3d print upgrade. |

Looking good Tyler. BLC still have a few more "local" daily events this season if a travel comp is too much of a stretch. Next one is on 3/19. Catch you later. J |

Time for an update. I had finals last week and some really late midterms last month. But now I'm done for the semester. I just finished first version of the rear tubes, time to start the printer.

Got a chance to run it a few days ago, wasn't happy with the steering so I got the dlux missing link locker. The locker didn't fit the gear so I had to lathe it down. The shafts didn't go all the way into the locker so the the tangs on the shafts and locker needed to filed down. Dlux if you read this check your quality control and you should warn people about the fact that if you are currently running the ax10 chubs and knuckles they will no longer fit if you go to the xr shafts. Then the ax10 chub and knuckles didn't work. So I went the wraith style chub but because axial decided to make them 1 mm larger on the inside than the ax10 style chub and had to make sleeve and clear the splines out of the chub for them to fit the berg. I finally got it back together. I'm starting to think the might have made the wrong choice going to berg axles. I'm kind of frustrated right now. Sorry for the rant but if a part is meant fit a certain axle or gear it should fit. |

It well worth reading everything I here before buying parts. It's well documented that wraith and ax10 parts are different lengths. Just use the search section and it will be found. |

Alright, no more rants. I'm giving the rcbros extended arms and hangers with some homemade knuckle weights a try.I Also turned the drag link around. So I gave something new a try, I used the dlux missing link locker a try in the rear with vanquish currie xr width rear shafts. They fit in stock width tubes. The shafts do need a little filing on the tangs. The reason for the filing is because there is a tiny bur in the locker that I couldn't get out. I had same problem with the front locker and the axial unis. At $35 they are fairly cheap. I had them lying around, because I was thinking about doing the xr mod to the rear of my shafty. (my shafty will be get a thread soon) |
