Default Austin's Dahu and Sudu 3D berg build

I am excited to start a new MOA build using berg axles and the new Dahu chassis from France. I have a stock front Berg axle on the way, may do another stock gearbox and gears for the rear axle or Dlux rear gearbox or RCbros rear gear case. The tubes will be RCbros or Dluxfab tubes.

Here is what I have so far...

It is definitely ultra light at only 4.1 oz.

I received the stock berg axle, they are nice and simple.

Here it is with ax10 c hubs, turned down to 13mm, and the stock link mounts shaved off.

I'll be watching your thread... The Dahu frame had me interested from the beginning...

Are there any issues with comps using that frame?

Tha cab measures about 55mm in height and about 72mm wide. I don't go to comps yet, but there are other people who do use this chassis in events and it looks like it does just as well as a four link.

Made a quick and easy jig for setting the caster, I want it to be the same on both sides.

What to do for knuckle weights? I am thinking of making an aluminum plate that screws on to the VP knuckle and adding brass rings.

Default Austin's Dahu berg build

I made some minor mistakes turning down the stock tubes, so I decided to purchase the Dlux berg tubes/link mount and servo mount. The stock berg gears got replace for rcbros gears up front and stock will run in the rear axle.

RCbros gears in front gear box.

Almost done with the front axle, need to mount the servo mount and install the set screws.

I made some progress on the front axle, it is ready for the servo and motor.

Moved the motor up and back.

Milled a flat on the axle tube for added clearance.

Mark up servo and motor.

I received the servo mount today and got it mounted on the axle tube. Here is my way of installing it...

It is nice and level.

I didn't like the idea of having to spilt the case to install the motor or adjust the gear mesh. I cut/milled off an additional 4mm and made a gear case cover.

I finished assembly on the front axle, I think it turned out very good. It was made fairly easy by Dlux fab, nice axle tubes and servo mount.

I am thinking of using 16 turn crawlmaster motors with 15 tooth pinions or 45 turn standard motors. Maybe a 15 tooth up front and a 14 tooth pinion for the rear. Which one would be the better combo?

The smallest pinions you can fit with the servo location. I run 13t with 13turn broods.

I can ran a 14 tooth pinion gear with the servo position. I will probably run 16 turn crawlmasters, never tried the 5 segment ones. I think the 400 puller would work will 12T or 13T pinions being 32mm diameter, only they are expansive.

I have Dlux replacement gear cases, only they will take some fab work to function right on the dahu chassis. Saved if I want to use a four link chassis.

Here is the dahu chassis mocked up to the V1 berg axles. The gear boxes clock up higher than I thought, so I need to rotate the c hubs back.

I set up the axles for a four link chassis. I modified the front link mount and made spacers for the dlux upper link mount and pressed in M3 lock nuts. Just need to wait and receive the sudu mod 3d chassis and build links.

Should I run a dlux link mount in the front instead of the stock berg one?

Default Austin's Dahu or Sudu Mod 3D berg build

I decided to switch out the stock berg gear box for the Dlux ones.

I spent some time building a new front upper link mount to work with the Dlux delrin one.
Weight of stock mount.

Cutting out new one to fit dlux front gear box.

Weight of new mount, only .1oz different.

Chassis mocked up to axle. Front axle is now adjustable.

I spent some time making another adapter plate for the front.

Assembling rear gear case with adapter plate.

Here is a dahu chassis with dlux gear cases installed.

Thinking about 3D printed rear lockouts with stand offs to mount the rear links.
