Default Beest's AMX build

Most of yall know me, I've been building and running comp crawlers since late 2008. I've never done a build thread until now. So here goes.....

Most of y'all also know Barrybelvedere, he's been at this just as long as I have. He just started selling carbon fiber parts, motor guards, steering arms, four link plates, and now chassis!

Now that were up to speed. On to my build. I'll start with the required parts list.

For esc's I'm running 2 Castle sidewinder micros. Motivation is brought to you by 2 Holmes hobbies 16t skewed arm crawlmasters.

Steering is handled by a Hitec 7950 powered by a castle bec set at 8.4 volts.

All ran by my trusty old futaba 3pmx and a wannamix. I will be upgrading the radio gear as soon as my budget allows.

Axles are berg gear cases and gears with tubes from Dlux.

The front is loaded with O.G. super 300 shafts, Axial axle C hubs, Vanquish 0 ackerman high steer knuckles, and finished off with Dlux knuckle weights.

The rear axle has delrin tubes, the gears are drilled, and I've installed a RC bros locker. Axle shafts are Dlux aluminum big ol' shafts.(strong and light!)

On to the pics of progress from tonight.

Work space all prepped to start.

Old chassis, carnage from gate 4 of the finals course at ECC. My rig fell about 30 feet down a cliff while I was trying to bump up a particularly slick climb.

Drilled out my rear gear set. Going to do the front gears tomorrow.

Axels cleaned up from ECC. If y'all didn't make it out, it was a wet one this year, the rigs came home dirty.

The end of progress for tonight. I'm waiting on my new Ti lowers to show up and I'll be doing more tomorrow.

Thanks for looking. Comments are welcome!

Yes. A modified version. Barry made it to work on a set of berg axles. The o.g. DD wouldn't work on bergs, the shock spacing was to narrow at the chassis.

I liked the DD chassis. It worked well. Stuck to about anything. It got me a 5th in 2.2 pro at ECC. The only reason I didn't do better was bad decisions on my part.

A good start....I think that fall was way more than 30 ft. I figured some how you started after me and finished b4 me. You gotta wake up PRETTY EARLY if you want to finish before me....LOL

Ok.... i stayed up till 3 A.M.! Finished my XR-10 RE-built/ New chassis thread! Also finished my Jar of Moonshine too. And ok That drop at ECC was probably closer to 3 story fall not 60 feet. Any rig would have been broken at that height. Oh well now you got a Sweet new Chassis.

So little update. I drilled my front gear set. For any of y'all who want to do this, use a 3/16 drill bit. Most folks these days buy pre lightened gear sets
But for those of us who are do it yourselfers, or just cheap like me, it's easy enough to do. First take the small gears out of the larger ones. Then put Em in a vice so the pin slots run parallel to the vice jaws. Get the vice good and tight so that when the bit goes to grab when it's about to break through it won't let the drill pull it loose. Then grab your 3/16 bit and carefully line it up straight up above the hole for the small gear. Take care not to get to close to the edge of the gears. Then drill through. After you have a hole, line up your bit so it's as close as you can get to right between the hole you just drilled and the pin slot. Then drill through. Repeat on the other side of the first hole and your done on that side. Flip gear and repeat. Mine didn't turn out perfectly, but they will do.

Not as nice as some but good enough for who it's for.;)

Complete drilled front gear set.

Not as nice as I hoped but it'll do.

I also got some better pics of the chassis. My old android camera has seen better days so I'm using my wife's iPhone. Lol

These are the lipos I'm using this season. Good punch and good price 8$ each iirc.

You aren't going to be ready or have the funds for the NENC if you keep dumping time and $ into that dodge

I won't be able to eat or pay my bills, if I don't fix it. Its just the lil plastic bushings in the wiper assembly.
