So the rig is nothing new but I wanted to show off some climbing, control, and power of the rig. On the last video I bent the front axle. Video 4 is of the bent axle.

I am running the stock ESC combo with a 45t Stroker motor. I love that it still has good low end control and great punch power. It's my favorite motor combo to date.

So far I have broken 3 Losi drivelines (before I switched to the Redcat drivelines), 4 inner axle shafts, one outer axle shaft, two Losi wheel hexes, and 2 servo's. My new SCT2 rims are holding up to everything I throw at them. I sometimes run MiClaws on this rig on a set of my MCT2 rims...love it too and works perfectly. The smaller tires offer more challenge :)

The stock ESC gets a little warm after a hard 30 minute workout but it has not given me problems yet with at least 30 packs through it.

I can't wait to put this all on a set of the Sumo axles and figure out the right motor combo to match this performance.

So basically I haven't built anything for myself since the micro TF2 build and I didn't have it long before it went to its new home.. So I think its about time since the weather should be getting nice soon (snowing right now:roll:}

I've started this Dodge truck a few times and it always ended back in a shoe tote and was constantly evolving from one thing to another. We'll this round i'm going to finish it up for sure and i'm kinda thinking it should be an over the top rock bouncing 4 wheel steer monster:mrgreen: So the build commences...

The first go was almost finished, then back to the shoe box.

http://www.scale4x4rc.org/forums/att...1&d=1316304215

http://www.scale4x4rc.org/forums/att...1&d=1316304215

Then I cut the shit out of the body after the bed got in a fight with my soldering iron...
http://i1260.photobucket.com/albums/...oe/anew019.jpg

Now i've ditched the bed altogether and went for the truggy scene.

The list of parts i'll be using...

PNracing 50T big block on a 29:1 gearhead
Redcat RS10 TX/RX for the 4 wheel steer
RC4WD micro T-rex front axles
Tekin B1R for its 3S capability
Hitec HS-85mg servos or the mg90's I got layin around
Qlo tires on the stamped steel rc4wd beadlocks  No they are not for sale...
Home grown transfer case with metal gears

Anyways here's what I got so far... Might start some bodywork next, got to make it look meaner..

Well, yesterday I went by a local RC race shop/track/hobbyshop to finally check one of these little guys out. After about 20 minutes of chatting with the owner he asked me what other micros I had and got to talking about my facebook group for micros. I gave him a brief rundown of the page and the fact that I started it just to boost local interest in the micros, told him about the projects I had, and then remembered my tricked out drift Losi Rally Car was still in the car from a prior day's runs.

Long story short, he traded my well used Micro Rally and $20 for a Sumo, brand new and still taped shut. It wasn't out of the box 20 minutes before I let the mods fly. As a matter of fact, this is ANOTHER rig I never drove STOCK...

With this rig I intend to use as many stock or recyled parts as possible, and not spend a nickle more than I must. Earning it the title, "Low Dollar Crawler."

Anywho, here are a few pics and explanations of last night's little mod session. There will be more coming with this project.

I really should have gotten pics of this little guy out of the box. My oh my, the changes. I robbed the weighted Claws and wheels off my Trekker, mounted them on stock Trekker hexes for a free widener.

Mounted up an MG90s in the front, eliminated the rear steer, ditched the AAs and battery boxes for a LiPo, moved a lot of the wiring and board around to get them down low. She's stable now...

Put the stock Redcat wheels and tires on my Trekker. I think they'll work better as an all around tire. They're wide and will give good flotation in the soft stuff.
The Trekker and RSMC side by side. I've stretched the wheelbase on both to 5 1/8" for climbs.

My custom rear lockouts and battery holder. I'm debating running it in the chassis though.

Proposed permanent battery location. With the battery here it looks and handles almost identical to my 1.9 MRC Pro. You can also see the longer 2-56 lower links I've made (they still need tube over them), and how I've moved the original lowers up to replace the stubby stock uppers. The stock setup was very rigid, bound badly, and had massive axle steer, caster change, and wheel hop. This setup is VERY plush and stable. It just floats up things. As I said, it drives like my 1.9 comp rig. Just needs more power.

New location of ESC/RX board. Note shrink tube to cover the servo output on the board where the original rear servo was plugged in. Don't need a shorted out board!

Here you can see the original lower links moved into the upper position. I may play with the geometry a little, but it's super close to perfect. It climbs like a spider when it doesn't stall. Even on 2s it's gutless. Looking into running a bigger motor into the original gear head. More low budget tricks coming!

I've been wanting to do something a little larger scaled than 24/25 lately, and finally got my hands on a toy Jeep that fits the size range I was looking for. I'm not a huge fan of the Jeeps, but this will let me see if I can really make something look scale. I'm not a fan of the 50" tires we have to chose from for 1/24 builds, so going a tad bigger, should make them scale out close to 40" or less, which is much more common on non-TTC trucks.

There are a few things I want to attempt on this rig. I will be doing a lot of brass work. I've built one tuber, a cage or two, and a couple of bumpers, but outside of the tuber, everything has been very simple and easy to fab. I'm not going to slack on design this time, as I want to push my build skills to further limits. Outside of brass work, this will be my first build with a non-stock drive line. I will be using some interesting techniques (haven't quite seen before) to get the 130 motor hooked up with proper gearing. Lastly, if I don't find a proper figure between now and completion, the last task will be to scratch build a driver from wire and putty. I need to have drivers in all of my rigs! Currently I have NONE!

This is the donor body....still on it's "toy" chassis.

The interior isn't half bad......lacks a little fine detailing....but I'll try and help that a little further down the line...

Three screws and it was off the chassis.
After watching a few videos and realizing that our (my neighbor Brian and I) micro crawler course would be the perfect place for the military stuff, I've also picked up an interest in the big trials trucks. Unimog, 6x6, 8x8, whatever.

Where can we find bodies in 1/25 that actually look appropriate on the micro crawler and Trekker? I'm not afraid of a little custom fab to put together a truck, but I'm not wanting to build my own styrene body. I KNOW building a body from scratch is outta my reach, and would like to either mod a toy, model, or custom body to work.

Any ideas? Man, Tatra, Mog, or any others you can think of...

Regaurdless anyone know if anyone sells a hex or another way to convert Losi Micro wheels and tires (aftermarket or Market) to fit the Mini axle? 12mm Hex?

what I have seen the Micro doesnt even use hex, but I have never looked at one in person or checked out the wheel.

I figured the guys that work and play with the Micro's might have an idea before I ask up in Scale.

Gonna try to take a look at my local Honny shop today if they have a micro, but at the same time its a small shop so I doubt they do.
Thanks.

Hey guys, I though i'd share what has been taking up alot of my garage time lately... Making molds of a scratch built body that was made in a partnership with Pardonmynoob and I. Good ol' Noob built all of the cab a while back and I admired it since I saw it in pics for the first time. I was lucky enough to have it sent to me for a build and I worked out a deal with "scale4x4" to make a mold of it. All of the stuff Noob did is top notch and I don't think I could have replicated it as he did. The only thing I changed before I made the mold was to fab up a hood that was a touch longer. After that my intention was to move forward with it and make the rest of the body parts. Once I finished the build for Scale4x4 I got to work... BTW, Dont mind the missing leading edge of the hood. I got it figured out that the body needed to come out of the mold in a certain way to keep from snapping off that little edge.
