I am working on a f350 and I am looking to see what people say is the best radio to use it in. I know that It does need a four channel as it has the 3 speed transmission. If anyone has advice that would be great!

After seeing a few of these with 1.9's online I couldn't resist the urge to build one for myself...but with 1.55's. However, I plan to go a different route and instead of converting an R1 I'll be converting my SCX10 Trail Honcho. Here's some pictures of my SCX10 Cherokee ready to donate her rock crawling goodness to a good cause.

The first items ordered were the (GM51400) R1 Tube Chassis Set and the (J20011) R1 Delrin Skid Plate from C.K.R.C. Crawlers and the (GM51200) R1 Transmission Set from Junfac/GMade. The transmission is apparently coming from Korea so I'm not expecting that anytime soon but I immediately received the other items from C.K.R.C..

After assembling the chassis I realized that a very important item was missing from the parts bag. The chassis braces! After contacting C.K.R.C. they gave me Junfac/GMade's phone number to call but it's a weekend and all I can do is leave a message. I'll try again tomorrow.

Below are pictures of the (almost) assembled chassis. At this point I'm trying to figure what I want my wheelbase to be. I'm thinking around 10.5" to 11". Here it is at 10.5". I don't currently own any 1.55 tires yet so I'm using my 1.9 Axial Ripsaws until I decide on a wheel and tire combo.

The next day I removed and cleaned the axles from the Cherokee and "installed" them onto the R1 chassis using the stock SCX10 90mm shocks that I had left over after upgrading to the Gmade XD 93mm Piggybacks. At this stage I'm trying to figure out what length shocks I want and what the length of the upper and lower links need to be.

Right away I can tell I am going to need longer shocks because the axles sit level with the skid plate. There is no down travel at all and I plan on taking this bad boy off some sweet jumps. How long do I plan on going? I don't know yet but I have a way I can figure it out, but later.
I took apart the Axial pipes, posts and spacers that were used to make up my 4-link suspension on the Cherokee to figure out the lengths for the links that will go on the R1 chassis. Over the last year I established quite the collection of these links and spacers so I was sure I could come up with the right combination. After lots of back-and-forth I finally came up with the right lengths, 45mm for the uppers and 73mm for the lowers which brings me to a wheelbase of 11". So, it's decided then...11".

So, last night I placed an order with AMainHobbies (free shipping after $25) for the links, 4 (AX30714) Axial 73mm Pipes, 4 (AXA1317) Axial 45mm Posts and the (AXA186) M3x16mm Set Screw set.

Now I wait.

After the links and transmission arrive and are installed I will know what drive shafts to go with. In the meantime I'm going to get the shocks figured out.

Thanks for reading.

Hey guys,

Thought I would share my scale build.

I had a few preferences when looking for a scale build to do.
1. Must be a hard body
2. Must be something different

I started off by purchasing a Scx10 roller from a Facebook sale, once I had the base to work off I started hunting for a body.

After searching around I stumbled upon a new Style FJ hardbody and bought it.

When I received the body I found that the wheelbase needed to be shortened.

From lots or research looking into shortening the wheelbase and track width, I started looking into using losi axles to get the correct track width.

I abandoned that idea built the Scx up and sold it to a mate to purchase a Losi MRC roller.

1.55 mud thrashers and steel rims

I swapped these out for a set of 1.55 Mickey Thompson MTZ

I have plans to later add an interior so for now just whipped up a quick mounting plate.

Test fitting the body
My first run in the lounge room, suspension is way too soft massive body roll when turning corners.
Also steering was getting stuck at full lock.

Still got a fair bit of work todo before she has her first proper run.

This is how I test mounted the electrics ( still messy ATM )
