Well I picked up a new TF2 kit right when it came out from Corey at RPP, and just wired it up and rolling, but never had a chance to finish priming and applying my main color with much a lot of assistance on perfecting a hard body paint job from the one and only JWalker.

So it sat on the crawler stand for literally a year as of today LOL. I got caught up with many other projects but finally got around to finding Bad Apple selling his brand new painted Mojave body set.

Specs:
Holmes TorqueMaster 35T
Holmes BRXL WP Edition
CC BEC 7.2V
Steering: Self WP Htec 5645MG
Shifting: New Hitec 645MG (needs WP)
Upgraded Rc4WD Shift Rod Linkage
MIP Drive Lines front/rear
Light Marine Greased tranny, T-case, and axles.
Crawler Graphics Toyota Hilux in White (retro stripes and tailgate letters)
Cheapo 3Racing LED kit
RC4WD Interior bench seat
RC4WD Steel TOYOTA rear lettering
RC4WD Sponsor Decal Sheets
Futaba Micro R204GF-E w/my 4PL

Planning on building this rig just to be as scale as possible with intentions of full waterproofing.

Well got tired of sanding, wetsanding, priming, wetsanding, priming, wetsanding, and then priming so the original Mojave body is half primed lol.

Thanks Bad Apple for your awesome deal on his sick detailed body!

Definitely going to finish up the interior and tidy up/seal all the electronics. Then going for a light polish and apply the stripes and lettering. This will be the show body.

Dug up my old first hardbody banger Tamiya Tundra I fused together which just so happens to be the same wheelbase as a stock Mojave/Hilux body!!

And finally the naked shot:

Wheels/Tires will probably be changed at one point. I like the 1.55''s just not too fond of the typical Mud Thrashers. Leaning on my favorites in 1.55'' which will always be the Rock Stompers first and Mud Slingers second.

Well I kind of found the trailfinder a bit later than most and I have loved every min I've spent with it so far!

This is my first Scale Crawler, not new to RC, I have a pile of trucks, planes, and helicopters. Just a basic run down of what I've done so far...

Built the kit by the book, after researching a bit I discovered that a few guys wished they would have just stuck with the basic setup so I will enjoy it as is for awhile. After I bobbed the bed and it turned out nice and had fun doing it I just kept going. Chopped the bed up so it was separate from the cab, put the full back on the cab and added the drip edge around the top of the cab that was missing over the back window. For reference I took about 1/2" out of the bed, it was super simple using my table saw with an 80tooth blade. Went real slow and had nice razor sharp edges to join back together. Little bondo and some sanding and its perfect. I just wanted the rear bumper to terminate at the edge of the fender, looks pretty clean and not too short, can always get shorter if I want later. Spent some serious time cleaning up any visible seams and sliced the goofy looking lip off the bottom of the door frame and box.

Plans are to tastefully trim up the front while retaining the bumper, cut out grill and place mesh behind it, build a simulated radiator. Going to build up a plate to finish the front of the box where it meets the cab. Sand off the emblems. Should be a good time! Then I will think about an interior. Not sure on color yet but the brown primer is kind of growing on me.

Enjoy!

i know most of u guys have had this kit for a long time. i've been reading all the posts about the horror stories & inherent problems with this kit. it almost swayed me to keep looking but my love for these trucks in 1.1 made me bite the bullet. she got here today & upon inspection, i already see 2 improvements that have been made by rc 4wd. people have mentioned there not being enough threads in the shift collar on the trans. & have to buy the new, deeper version. my kit came with it. some people talk about the screws that go thru the housing up towards the springs being to short & stripping out. this kit came with bolts long enough to reach all the way through & use a nylon nut. i did still notice some in & out play on the pinions though. u would think shimming the pinion in towards the ring gear would help, but in my case, pushing it in makes the gears crunchy. by pulling it out, about the width of the e-clip holding the pinion, it smoothes out nicely. my question is, where do i find shims small enough to go between the e-clip & outer pinion bearing?

The axle housing look fine as it at it sit under the car, but i will take apart both Axels tomorrow for inspection and lube + XVD install on the front axle.

I assume i can make do with regular diff since the helical ones are out of stock, just gotte make sure shimming is good ( i expect this have been the problem )

I think i have put 50,000 mah thru the 35T HH motor on the TF2 in the last year.

PS. my body blew off the roof of my 1:1 car while packing
So when i have glued the front fender up where it broke today it will have a even more banged up look ;-)

I was looking forward to testing my home brew light bar on the roof with 11 X 55,000 mcd LEDs, i allso removed my winch and put 3 R1 light buckets there instead ( allso with 55,000 mcd LEDs )

Me and a local buddy went on a hike/trail run today, it's Memorial Day, it's beautiful here and the weather couldn't be more perfect for this. We were at a place called Anglin falls, near rockastle county ky. I have my tf2 and my friend had his as well. Both rigs did awesome and only a few minor things here and there. My rear anti wrap link came out again and I was hindered without my normal tsl's. (the beads rolled off the wheels I had on my tf2) so I was using my rock crushers and my steels off my c-10 as backups.

My buddy's is a slightly modded tf2. Pitbuls on axial 8-holes an hh 35t with esc combo. He suffered the worst damage of the trip, broken something or another lol, he's headed home to take it apart and see what went, either way he only had 3 wheel drive basically. I'm thinking hex pin?

That ended our trip so here's some shots! :)
