I'm looking for my next project. I have a 79' Ford F150 lexan body and after building the truck and making a bed for it i realized it sat to high and was to top heavy. Also it was a little to wide.

Now I'm wanting a hard body. I saw a few people here who've built blackfoot truggies and I thought that would be a great build. Only thing is I can't seem to find a complete body with bumpers and everything. It's almost like I have to buy a complete truck and use the body and ditch the rest.

If anyone can help that would be much appreciated. Thanks ya'll.

I picked up a can of black Plastidip last time I was at home depot. My wife's cousin was obsessed with it and did the rims on his Mazda with it and it came out really well. So I figured I'd try it out in the flairs on my rtr Rubicon body to try to un-rtr the look a little! So after a few coats of the plastidip and letting it cure overnight I threw them back on the body and really like the way it came out. Its not a huge difference, but at least its a cheap and easy thing to do. I think it gives the flairs just a nice 'deeper' black. I have not run the truck yet so I'm not sure how well its going to hold up to rock rash, but at least its easy enough to just respray them when you want them to look good again.

I need to post some pics but they don't really show how well they came out. I'm thinking of spraying the entire cage. Also found out that plastidip released a gunmetal color as well (home depot only had the black) so I may order it online and try to do the body with the gunmetal! They also have camo colors and a "blaze" line of bright colors. I did my exacto knife handle in the black plastidip and really like the feel of it.

I have seen a few people mention that they have tried the plastidip for a few things on here already but just figured I was bored and would share my experience with it. Also one of the nice things about it is that it peels right off if you don't like it. I painted the grip on a losi tx and peeled it right off to see how it came off, and it peeled right off and left no residue at all!

Has anyone here had any good or bad experiences with plastidip???? And damn I must be bored seeing how I just made a long ass post about plastidip!!!

Okay, anyone ever used a fabric on the outside of scale bodies? Say real vinyl on the seats? or fabric to simulate carpet?

Working on body I want to through some super scale looks to, but Im not sure what would work the best to glue this to the body with. We all know shoe lue works but its to thick to spread on a of stuff, Thick CA? but slower dry time but you have to be careful I know if discolors the body, or thin CA for instant adhesion but careful again.

I was thinking about using 3m Super S spray adhesive on the back of the fabric, just not sure if it will stick?

If someone has done anything like this let me know, or give me some tips.

Just needed to share a successful (economical) flat black finish on our Jeep Rubicons. After looking at REAL Jeeps, it became apparent to me that what need to be done was: paint the inside (black) and sandblast the outside. This could NOT have turned out better; looks like the REAL thing! As I mentioned I purchased a "touch-up" sandblaster from Harbor Freight ($8) and a jar of Glass Beads (media) ($6) - which was enough to do both Jeeps. Masked off the (gloss) painted areas of the Jeep (rubber sandblast mask) and blasted the top, fenders & bumpers - leaving the tough Lexan matte. Thus it can be beat up a bit with no worries of paint scratchige. The finished projects can be seen here.

This is fun!!!
