What lathe did you pick-up?

I picked up this off of ebay new in box for $90: http://www.integy.com/st_prod.html?p...621&p_catid=26

Not the best but fit my budget and will get the job done.

I'm going to get some motor cleaner and comm drops today to try and make it at least drivable for Sunday. The front motor stalls out in even the mildest of binds (trying to roll up an undecut) right now. And does not kick in until about 1/2 throttle.

With no proportional to compensate it makes it difficult to drive ;-)

Speedracer19 12-03-2010 11:57 AM

Do not use Comm Drops on these motors they go to slow to have any benefit & may even gum up the brushes & Comm slots.

DickyT 12-03-2010 12:01 PM

Thanks for the tip Donnie, just some motor cleaner then "thumbsup"

If I can find a comm stick is it safe to use to aid in the cleaning?

If the Comm is not houred glassed )( you can use the stick to clean the Comm & use the kurnled rounded end of a hobby knife to clean the brushes glazed face & to take the sharp edges off.

Warricks has no electric motor cleaner:evil:

Time to hit up the autoparts stores and see if they have any electric motor safe cleaner.

Edit: nevermind, they had it, just not labeled as such. Directions mention endbells and comms though.

Thanks for the info Donnie, I'll dig around for my old comm stick tonight. The comm is not concave, just filthy from the motor getting filled with sand.

Now that I'm into crawling I wish I had never sold my cobra motor builders lathe I used back in the day on 19t mods.

Mini 12-03-2010 03:33 PM

I told I would do both motors for $25 I think thats fare. It's the same thing I charged you and your motors worked perfect after...

Anyone that needs the comms turned thats what I charge I gotta pay for my diamond cutters.

if you did em both for 10$ this would be fair:roll: but i got lucky got a cobra pro comm for 10$ the 20$ carbon bit is on the way:x or else i would let him use mine"thumbsup"

Mini 12-04-2010 10:24 AM

Diamond bits cost, it's cool though thats the same reason why I bought a lathe, and thats the reason you got one and now Dicky is getting one so it's worth getting one. I think it's cheap what I charge I know a guy who does motors for $35 each so $25 for both is pretty chill. But any who, tommrow is the big day hope everyone is ready.
