| Crawling in North Florida??
So the family may be picking up and moving to Florida. We are looking in the area around Ocala, Live Oak, Gainesville, etc. Is there some nice crawling around this general locale? Or am I going to be s**t outta luck? |

Very cool, thanks guys. I was worried 'cause when you think of Florida...rocks don't come to mind. It's an hour for me now to crawl some decent rocks so that's not too bad. |

I live right outside Gainesville and Ocala is less than an hour away. Really depends on what you want to run.............................. Gainesville will be the best bet for comp quality stuff. Some of the best stuff in the state. If you have a comp rig.....this is where you wanna be. It is a stop on our state series. KennyJ and I have been doing alot of clearing out there lately. Boulders larger than cars are there and lots of them. There is also an epic spot in Gainesville for scalers that is different than the spot we comp at although it has some nice stuff as well. My hidey-hole has about a mile total of shallow creeks to run in with some mud and sand available as well. Lots of great winching action as well. Have only showed it to a couple of people and they don't run anymore. Sanford is more for scalers, the rocks that are there are very slick and dusty small rocks with many tire swallowing holes. The scaler guys like to play in the mud there. NewRed has some stuff there for both scalers and comp rigs but a decently built comp rig will find the terrain there limited at best. They are improving it though and also have a pulling sled. Scale action is pretty good for the limited area they have available. Last edited by Scattman; 02-13-2011 at 12:06 AM. |

When are you planning on moving down here? We have a great comp circuit that travels the state. It just started but we will be comping through the summer. As Scattman said, Gainesville is one of the better spots in the state. Look forward to seeing ya around. |

Welcome to Florida. I live about 40 minutes south of Ocala in Wildwood. There is a decent spot in Wildwood, but Gainesville is where you want to be for crawling.
