Default CFSC: Build N' BBQ GTG

Well here it is, this thread will be for the purpose of setting up GTG dates. Only this is not for trail sessions or running on the rocks or in the woods. This GTG will be for Building and Fixing rigs to prep or repair them.

I know some of us are fairly new to the SLOW end of RC. Most of us all have or had GO FAST rigs. I was thinking that if we can have a Build session BBQ we could collectively throw ideas out on the table regarding build projects, rig setups, comp locations, scheduled comps we would like to go to (more trucks more fun), i.e. anything involving running here in the Central Florida area (or as far as some of us will drive)

Im fairly new to this scene but I enjoy this hobby greatly and enjoy BSin' with others who share the enthusiasm for the hobby as well. There is an upcoming local event I believe out in Ocala @ NewRed Hobbys on January 15th 2012. It is a TTC which will be free to enter. (always a bonus) I will post the info from the Comp link they posted as well. We need a date to figure out a GTG before this comp. I would like to be able to go over my rig and actually have others look at it as well, a 2nd or 3rd set of eyes may see something I missed on the rig and could make all the difference in the world. It would also be a BBQ GTG so we could hang out stress free with no worries about breakin an axle or driveshaft on the rig.

Lets here some imput on what everyone thinks. Im gonna throw out there January 7th (Saturday) or the 8th (Sunday). That is the weekend before the comp. Making sure the rigs are good to go the week before would be really nice, not having to stay up til 3am on Saturday night before the comp building always sucks.

I think this is a very cool idea.
Don't know if I'd be able to make it or not, but a great idea none-the-less.
I've often wished I'd had a second (or third) set of eyes on my tinkering.
Sucks when your running and have to say, "I shoulda made it the other way".
Always good when there's someone that says "hey, have you tried it like this?" and of course you never thought of that.

Great idea man, I'm good for pretty much any weekend in Jan, unless it's a comp weekend.

I am deff down for this if im not working, and I will add the 15th to my requests off days. Its far enough out I can figure out a good excuse. I would love to actually run with some others for once. I cant believe I missed the past two.

I think this may be the place we pick for the first GTG. With your tool availability and a spot to test the rigs after prep it would be well worth it. We will figure out the carpool situation so gas isn't a concern.

Still getting stuff together to turn my AX10 into a 1.9 scaler. Don't know if it will be ready, but I would like to show up and meet you all. Maybe get some ideas or learn something. Sound's like fun and I should be able to make any date.

Thats the beauty of this idea. Getting together to share info, ideas, and knowhow. Im sure we can help you get your rig ready for the 15th. Give us an idea what you need left to do.

Well then let's plan it now. The Sunday before NewRed TTC will be the 8th. I'll get the location from you later.

Anyone in the central area like casselberry / Orlando / Oviedo / UCF let me know an we can figure out carpool. Save some gas. Should be a great start to the new year.

Sent from my iPhone 3GSlow but still works flawlessly.
