Its good to know I'm not talking to a young kid... haha..
its memorial day weekend. My plans involve buying a BBQ, getting some new eyes and find an air compressor on Craigslist..lol
Still reading on this stuff. Tons of good info.

i have a spare compressor. its pretty big though. its a 80 gallon. i have it as a spare for my shop. i would be interested in selling it. the one in there now is a work horse and dont really need the extra one.

Jeepgeek, come out with Exocaged and I one day. I have a RTR Wraith that you can test drive. Both Joe and I have the Venom Creeper.

I also had to think about what my first crawler would be. I choose the Wraith because I felt it had all of things I wanted (some speed, crawl, and neat looks.) The Rubicon was on my shortlist, but in the end, I wanted that extra bit of speed I could call upon for my Wraith. I love my Wraith!

Hobbyworld is that store you drove past. They don't normally carry crawlers (or scalers) but will happily order one for you. They are reasonable with costs. Hobbyworld probably won't beat an internet price (I am generally happy with the price I get on something), but they will take care of you if you have problems. My first Wraith had ESC problems. I brought it in, they tried to bind it, and when it did not work, ordered a new one for me. Three days later I swapped out my bad one with the new one.

RC Outlet is out by NAS Jacksonville (6800 Roosevelt Blvd). They don't carry Losi, Axial, and a couple of other brands (The Horizon stuff). They will have most stuff you need in stock. They will also treat you good. I tend to try and split my business between the two. RC Outlet has more car guys on staff than Hobbyworld, who tends to have more of the Airplane people. I don't think either store will make you unhappy.

Hobbyworld does have an on-road track in the back, but I don't think it is used anymore. I never see anyone back there. I suppose if a bunch of us tried to build a crawler course, they might let us use the space.

Go Hard Racing is a short course track in Green Cove Springs, the owner does it part time, so he is mostly open on the weekends. He does have a crawler section out there, but the course has fallen into hard times (did not appear to be used anymore). I like the track, but because I work nights, it is too far of a ride for me to use a lot.

I had a Venom Creeper but i had no one to play with at the time.. so it got kinda lame so i sold it last year. i didn't know about this forum back then.
But..I've been looking at the Wraith and at the Honcho.. and next week it might be something else lol

I'll go say hi to the guys at HobbyWorld since they're right down the street from me. Help local economy as well. and who knows.. maybe we can get a spot to crawl later on.
Thanks for the excellent feedback on Jax hobby stores. Good stuff!
I need to meet up with you guys one of these days. Darren.. night shift is rough. I did it at IBM in Boca Raton long time ago..

what kinda charger/battery pack should i get? maybe i can get that .. like an initiative to get something..

I have a mix of batteries. I bought some low cost ones at Hobbypartz, the Gens Ace brand. I have been pleased with the two batteries I got from them. My batteries from venom work fine, but cost more. For the bashing I do, I don't see a difference between the two. There could be something if I were in the race scene.

I bought my DuraTrax Onyx 235 from Hobbyworld. I did not check any reviews or price check when they sold it to me, but I have been happy with it. Again, I am a basher, and don't get into the race scene (since I work nights.) I am sure there will be heated opinions (based on who you ask) but I am prefectly happy with my choices of charger and batteries. (well, I may not buy more Venom batteries since the Gens Ace ones are a solid value.)

The charger menu could be better, but it is simple once you have it down.

Im in too but only as an observer.. waiting for my buggy to come in.
Thanks Darren! went to Hobby World. dude hooked me up with the wraith rtr.. got a great deal on it too. I picked up a HiTec x1 charger for a Lipo battery pack. So now i get to wait 7-10 days for my new crawler. Super Excited.

Where we going tomorrow?
