Default Formula Offroad aka FOFF

If this is in the wrong section lemme know or move it. Its basicly a crawler just going faster

Havent got all the things at home yet but here are some pics and info about the Formula offroad i am building.

Will use: Sidewinder ESC, CC BEC, 3cell 5000mah lipo, 5000kv motor, Gearbox from RC4WD and axles from my CR-01. And to controll it all i will use my Spektrum DX3

The tires i will be using

5000kv motor 540 size

Thats a first mockup of how i think it will look. Wont be using those shocks. When sitting still the 4 links will be horisontal to the ground so will sit much lower than here.

After many hours in the garage i finally got the chassiplates made. They are made of 2mm very hard aluminium. Was really hard work to cut and then sand them to be exactly the same but made it

My first plan was to use the gearbox from my crawler ( Tamiya CR01 ) but the gear ratio is all wrong so deicided to order one from rc4wd.

Will build the car around the CR01 gearbox since i will be using same width for the other gearbox aswell.

Going to cut out parts of the chassi to make it look nice cause i wont be using any body. Chassi will be body

Here are a few more pics

Under the car with the cr-01 gearbox.

From the side, and as i said before i will be cutting out details so it looks better.

From above with the cr01 gearbox and 5000kv motor.

Roughly how it will look. Will be abit lower than in the pics when its done.

More updates to come soon.

no pics here but interested to watch. I picked up some paddles and such to do something similar. I was gonna use a 7t cobal puller and a 2 speed rc4wd tranny but general concensus was the tranny wouldn't hold up.

Looks like you're off to a good start. Nice design so far. Those wheels and tires are going to look great. Keep us posted.

Watch you sidewinder and that motor on a 3S pack. I know the sidewinder 5700 combo is only rated for 2S max. It can do 3S with a 4600 no problem. Just a heads up you may be pushing it.

Ordered the "last" things for it now

R2D HD transmission
Straight axle kit to the rear
Hardened driveshafts and difflocks
2 2800mah 11.1v 30 Lipos ( connected paralell so i will have 5600mah 30C )
Spare Traxxas Half Shafts
Pinions

Also i modifyed the Spektrum transmitter so i have a 3way toggle switch for the 3rd chan. The original A button is still functional.

Well it depends on your gearing
Those Sand Paw tires hook up quite good

I use a 54T/18t with the MudSlingeres
And a 54T/25T with the
Sand Paw tires

top speed is around 21Mph

Small update on the build!

Made the pins that hold together the 2 chassi halfs and also made a ESC and RX plate in the back. That plate will be little modifyed still before i am done. Will be making the battery tray when the transmission arrives. All screws will be changed to hex later.

Will make a small change to the shock mounts aswell. And add springs.
