Hot Wheels Inspired Formula Offroad

Crawler King no more. I will post more pics Later. Still need a bunch off stuff done, like a tuber bolt on cage and new battery placement. Homemade Aluminium Chassis with everything reworked. All stock links. Opinions Welcome. Going to use it for some sand hillclimbs like those crazy Formula Offroaders.

"thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup" I FREAKIN LOVE IT !!!!!!!!! It's freakin sweet , so now i have something to do with my W/K axles and JRX2 trans (holy golden moldy) Yeah i gotta trde it for a W/K trans. hahahaha ... Awesome rendering of a Formula W/K !!!!!!!"thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup" Is the front suspension semi droop ? just thinkin you'd want it sprung for the terrain , but i understand ride height issues . Switch to a much smaller 3s li-po then just run touring car shocks on front with light springs .

Yeah I saw the Hotwheels in Wal-Mart the other day. It is a 2010 model. That was the inspiration to research Formula Offroad. I live near the beach so I am going to try it out when the weather breaks."thumbsup"Thanx

skullking 02-27-2010 07:43 PM

The front shocks Traxxas Front Rustlers that are semi droop w/ Internal springs. I am actually going to make a Split Pack and run 3 NIMH cells on each side of the chassis towards the middle. I had it like that untill I blew a cell. So now I just put a regular pack in the front. The Rear has numerous shock mounts I can play with. Right now the back is slightly higher than the front.

Cool Thanx Guys."thumbsup"Going to take the Rooster out. Too much Braking at a full speed stop, I think this might mess with the Trans too much. I am always on a Budget so I think I might try a Associated SC10 Set up. The Reedy 17 turn motor with the ESC. Here are some more Pics.

WOW that chassis is really cool
that is almost one of the best American Foff trucks I have seen so far

Do you have a drawing of that chassis ??

Jonny you better upgrade the Sand King

ps
I would keep that battery just where it is now
And there is a solution for the gear box

skullking 02-28-2010 08:44 AM

This is where I want the Batteries to go NUN-CHUCK Style. Going to Fab up some Side Skid Plates that bolt on to the chassis and the Batt's will sit in there."thumbsup"

chafee 02-28-2010 01:14 PM

Na, The nun-Chuck style will work best as far as looks and Low COG. When done the batt's will be hidden.

SnoopMaxx 02-28-2010 04:03 PM

For Foff style hill climb you need all the weight in the front 8)... not in the middle

have you seen my Bullit gears just ask Jonny (chongdigga)
if they work

Test Run 1 with a 27 turn Motor. Just runnin to see how she handles.

sourdojack 03-01-2010 08:32 PM

Looks sweet!

Now you just need to go brussless/lipo and your set!

skullking 03-02-2010 03:34 AM

Going to keep it brushed. Brushless/Lipo is too much money for me right now. Thanx"thumbsup"

skullking 03-03-2010 05:51 PM

Just got a Traxxas Stinger 20 turn. Going to try that with a 18 Tooth Pinion and see how she does this weekend. Might be able to get a 15 turn ESC combo hopefully too."thumbsup"
