I'd consider using the Axial Open Diff. in the front axle.
I bought one for this build and never installed it, I just put it in my Rock Rider Wraith basher last weekend... if you want to jump, I think it helps take a lot of stress off the driveline when it come's to landing.

I'm taking the RR with me to our scale comp this weekend (it's not competing) and see how it does in the mud and hill climbs with the open diff. I still need to find some Silly Putty to fill it with.

The F'n Bastard rides again!
Well, almost... it's been torn down since I got back from FL in December.
Last night I started the rebuild... cause I'm going back to FL on Friday

I put longer Jato rod ends on the bottom links to move the axle outputs down some. The driveshafts were rubbing on my sway bars. I think I'll need to trim up the links because now the drive shaft angle is getting steep... no binding though so I may leave that till spring.

I finally replaced the idler gear with a Robinson Racing gear.

I need to install a rear Highland locker.
I'm going to run the Axial Open Diff in the front... I'll take a new RCP locker locker with me in case I change my mind but after running it in my Rock Rider Wraith basher... I love it!

I also need to install front axles, bearings and knuckles tonight.

I can't wait to get this F'n Bastard in the sand with the open diff... it's bash time

Well it's a runner again!
I installed MIP cvd axles, VP high steer knuckles, a new 222oz Savox servo and the open diff.
I still need to open up the rear axle to install the Highland locker. Not sure if I'll do that because I still need to get my MRC running before Friday.

I got a 20t pinion, was going for 50mph but the Castle Creations 5700 is stuck on the motor plate! One of the screw's stripped
Not sure if I should drill it out before or after vacation.

Why dont you just buy a slash 4wd..They would be faster and tougher..I dont see the point in these.

because they are hell of a lot of fun and not just something bought in a shop.

also most of these are built from parts in the way the builder wants to do it. it feels so much better when you get one of these running good.

I would like to see Slash keep up or look as good doing it as a Foff rig.

Since I've seen it in person, I must say it is a cool little truck! Great fun. It's a sandblaster (which frankly anything 4wd with paddles can do very well) and a hill climber.

It is *not* a Slash (or other 4WD SC, buggy, truggy, etc) and wasn't built as such so any comparisons are moot.

the F'n Bastardis killing my f'n lipos!
I puffed 2 lipos just now... which is very annoying considering the added cost of a 45c Hyperion. I did get some video footage though, but the best run didn't get recorded... ran out of space.

As to why not buy a Slash... what fun would that be?
The FOFF'n Bastard can out corner a Slash and looks way cooler
Besides, I know Traxxas can make a quality product... I'm sure they have a large team of highly paid designers and engineers to do so.
I have the internet, imagination and my own 2 hands... I'll take my one of kind rig over a mass produced, lowest common denominator, for the masses, over priced, highly marketed, hobby shop pushed truck anyday
