Default First FOFF attempt

Hi Guys, i'm joining the bandwagon with the FOFF but I'll be building with what I've got laying around. I've got a DMG chassis that was supposed to be for more LCC but I sold that rig so now I'm thinking using this for an FOFF. Will be using chinese HD copies of the axial axle and tranny. My question is, is there a regulation on how long these rigs should be? Im looking at a 15" wb and using 120mm traxxas shocks. Going with a CC brushless set up. not sure about spur and pinions yet would appreciate suggestions. Here are some pics.

I got the links done today and installed the shocks. Just need to install the electrics and She'll be ready to go to the sand trails this weekend. I'm going with 87t spur and 18t pinion. Hope it works and not bust in 5 secs like I've read on with some builds here Tires should be in the mail soon. Here are a couple more pics.

Final wheelbase is at 14"

Finally had this rig running (just in time too as the wraith was at the doorstep today)!! Here are a couple of finished pics without the side panels installed. I also asked a friend to make me a spur cover since my tranny is back side facing forward. Couldn't fit it in the other way since the spur would hit the electronics tray. Here are some pics. Did a test run and I broke the steering link after it hit a rock coming down a 3 foot drop. Wasn't able to take pics but I'll get some after I fix it.

Hope she'll survive her first offroad run tomorrow!!

God looking rig. What about the battery placement? Maybe a smaller battery somewhere more foward on the chassis.

hey im new to crawling and looking to get the trail honcho. it seems to be a good place to start. what i Foff? is it just what i think it is or what? also if i wanted to would my honcho handle the vxl on 3cell with the stock setup? if not what would it take to do that? and how far would i be able to take thescx-10?

I'm waiting for some batteries to arrive But it's not looking too good for placement up front. Gonna have to do some trial & error stuff on this thing.

The stock honcho is pretty good right out of the box. Get the kit though so you'll have the metal links. Formula Off roading can be tough on parts specially if you go on 3s. You are certainly going to break something after a while. Read up on people's builds here but for sure go to the scx10 thread to learn more about the kit
