I've had this Bastard Jr. chassis sitting around for a while and was trying to decide what to do with it. I was considering building a sportsman rig but that kind of felt like the old "bringing a knife to a gun fight" sort of thing.
Well, because I'm a speed junkie, here we are.

Only problem, no sandy hills to climb... but we do have miles of sandy beach to run :twisted:

I think this should move pretty good. The chassis is really light weight. I was worried about bending it on the rocks but it should be a lil safer on the sand.

Bastard Jr. chassis
Will start with a VXL motor but may go with more power in the end.
Mamba Max ESC
Axial transmission with upgraded gears, output and motor plate
Axial BTA steering set up
Axial 4 link rear

Just ordered Junfac 2.2 Mudrock Beadlock wheels (they look light weight)
Just ordered Pro-Line Sand Paws

I think I'll run over/under drive gears
Considering an open front diff
Also thinking Traxxas Big Bore shocks for the damping.
I'm going with straight Stainless Steel lower links, these bent links were laying around so I threw them on.
I want this rig to sit low 8)

Looks like it should work. Like you said get that thing as low as possible. Big bores all the way, that's what I run on my bronco, love em. Red losi 2.5" springs on mine, works nicely. By the way I dig the "el duderino" action figure hidin in the back right of the pic. Makes me want to watch The Big Lebowski again

Still gathering parts.
Just picked up a used DMG Truss & Axial Aluminum Lockouts for the rear.
Drail is hooking me up with a TCS skid, thanks man "thumbsup"
I walked into a LHS looking for a servo for my Dinky MRC and walked out with this bad boy: http://www.savoxusa.com/Savox_SC1256...avsc1256tg.htm

When all was said and done, it was $10 more than 125oz low profile one I was going to get for the MRC. It may be overkill for the FOFF rig. I might move it to my scaler and move the scaler servo into a Wraith... next year.

tbilz, yup. The Dude and Walter. I bought them for my scaler but I don't know... they are really heavy and to cool to cut in half!

I decided on a little more beef and got a used set of VP High Steer Knuckles and the LD BTA kit... I'm getting excited to run this rig.

Nice project, nice collection of parts also"thumbsup", as for the wheels, i would reinforce the hex area or just glue the hex directly on the wheel, i own 3 sets of them and all the wheel hexes cracked and broke, it seems the plastic on them is somewhat brittle and thin in that area.

How do you lot think of this I run a 1.9 scx10 with a bit of speed but wow you lot are crazy

Update:
I've been having a hard time finding shocks that'll work... until I remembered I had a set of link shock mounts :mrgreen:

These are Traxxas big bore 4tec shocks. I think they'll work in the front, not sure about the back yet. I want the rear axle closer to the frame. I'm going for a very aggressive, dragster look. I think it'll be balanced pretty good with the chassis sitting far back and the battery on the front axle.

In these pics, I have the front upper and lower links on the same level.
After the pics, I realized I was going to have drive shaft problems. So, I moved the links around and I think it'll work better and look better :mrgreen:
I do need to cut all new links though, these were old links from my scaler.

I'm not sure what brand or what truck they are from.
I got them in a bag of PTI Goliath goodies from K_B.
I belive that the Redcat RS10 uses similar mounts... I've been looking for backups.

New front links, rear links, shock location, made lower shock braces.
I have another set of shocks that are .25" shorter but not as beefy as the Traxxas big bores.

I have most of the parts to run an open diff in the front.
I picked up a used set of MIP drive shafts for $30. I was holding out for 30 because I knew I'd need to order the Summit male for the front end... it's in the mail.
I'm running Junfac wideners on the paddle tires.
These Mayhem wheels are on Traxxas "long" hex's. I don't want to drill out the Mayhem's so I picked up a set of used Fubar Rings for my 1.9" Axial wheels.
I don't mind drilling them out and these wheels will go back on my mini.

RS10s do come stock with shock mounts that go on the links....they are plastic though....I have 8 of them if interested
