Default UGC-FF4 Foff, SPEED DEMON

I have been wanting to build one of these Foff's for a while. Then i started going thru all my extra parts and found my first real rock crawling chassis. UGC FF-4 chassis with all the links and shocks still together.
Here are some pic's so far.

I have the Trx VXL system i'm going to install with plenty of gears to try.

If anyone could suggest items or ideas to use Please post up.
Thanks.

First thing to do is to level out the skid, put on all Revo rodends and limit the shocks. Any other ideas?

GREAT Looking start ! That is one hell of a first start . How about some additional photos of the suspension and shocks. I have some suggestions though, I see you are using the truss mounts for the upper links. You may want to put some spacers on those, to widen the upper link positions for additional torsional support. This will help with torque twist.

Are you suggesting more of a 4 link setup? less of a triangulated setup?

Yes, a little less triangulation will stablize the suspension under hard excelleration.

Oh, i see. Thanks.
I have a set of aluminum axle cases and trans case on order. I will have to see the mounting options they have when i get them. Should be Thursday

I think i got the body mount all worked out. I will get pic's up soon, of the links, shocks and body.

Would straight links would be better than the 30 degree bent ones i have on there now? Another question, has anyone used the Axial Wraith drive shafts on these bad boys? Thanks for your help.

Straight links is the way I went. I don't see a need for the clearence links on a Foff.
I have the Wraith driveshafts from MIP on mine .

I agree with you about MIP's they are the Best, i was wondering about the stock Axial Wraith drive shafts? Will they hold up under all the power?
They seem pretty strong. The reason I'm asking is i have a set and wanted to use them if they don't explode under power. The front will need to be shortened, the rear fit nicely.

Just trying to use what i already have.

I would make some straight links, stock Wraith drive shafts won't hold up, go with some Mip's, you'll need to address the shocks. Limit them internally, the less travel the better and since they lay down so much they will be soft, so have some springs on hand to tune on those. Cant wait to see those alumn. axles, I'm considering those for my sons FOFF build.

I personally use shock oil for fine tuning, after you've run it you'll know better how you want your suspension to work, I always use springs first, if you have your preload adjusters cranked way down, then you need a stiffer spring. I'm running mine stiff in the rear and a little soft in the front, I only run mine in sand, if your running in dirt (hard packed or loose) it will be a completely different set up, but you won't know until you run it. As far as how much suspension travel, I've got about 1/2". If it were me I would lose the shock razors as they are adding height. Keep it coming I like this.

Ok, thanks for the input. I see what your saying about the shock risers.
I picked up enough material from Ace Hardware to make all my links. They should be done in the next few days. Hopefully i have enough revo rod ends to finish them all.
How does the stance look? Is it close? In the pic it's at 1 3/4"

Thanks for everyone's help and advise. Please keep them coming..

Has anyone tried to use a Revo transmission? Just a thought.

It could work, might be a little big, but would be bullitproof.
