Well my 8mm delrin turned up, so out to the garage, and after some scribbling on paper i got the skid made. forgot to take a pic before i put the motor and trans on.
Just got to make a mount for the esc and receiver. The skid is milled out in the centre 3mm deep to lower the battery more.
also the motor and trans mount are recessed 4mm.

Well i have yet again made a change. I decided the motor mount was going to be a pain to change the pinion easily.
I had to order some more parts from America as nothing much that i want is stocked over here.

While shopping around this mount from Tekno rc caught my eye.

TKR4142X – 42mm V3/V4 Motor Mount (CNC alum, black ano, for Castle/Tekin motors, lightened) | Tekno RC – Excellence in RC Design

so ordered one, plus enough parts to build another rear axle, but with 36/14 overdrive to match the front if i use this truck when i use it on flat ground, also the STRC steering linkage for the front.

This meant a new skid, so when the delrin turned up i got on with it. Yes i need to clean the machining up, but its not finished yet. There will be another slot 3mm deep for the battery tray which im making a new one a bit narrower to hold the battery better.

8mm thick and machined out to 4mm deep for the transmission and motor.Just enough room to clear the driveshafts.

apologies for the bad shots, but was in a rush and didn't have time to get the camera out.

this will mean a new top plate has to be made, but hopefully soon.

Default It's on wheels!!

Well I finally finshed the skid. I decided to run the front of the skid right up behind the front axle to help it slide over the soft stuff.
Drier weather next week and time off work, so hoping for some runs.

Hpi 1960kv motor, 22 tooth pinion, 46 tooth spur.

Lots of delrin machining and cursing.

A few things to tidy such as the rear shock brace to be rounded off, and maybe fit a wing, but not sure yet.

also have to check upper link length as the axles sit about 3mm off to one side, but it runs fairly straight.

I have stock side panels, but not decided on a colour yet... definitely not black tho.

Thanks, I'm so glad i got this far with it. the skid was a pain, but in the end worth the effort. Just some fine tuning now i hope.

Thanks Hacksaw.. I just weighed it..6 lb, 6 1/2 ounces. i think my old foff was 5lb 10 oz, allow for the heavier motor and battery i don't think thats too bad. i could get some weight off in places, but that after i can get a few runs on it.

They took about 10 days. I have ordered stuff before and it always seem to be about that time.

I just got another chrome set to use. I haven't had any problem with hexes stripping except on 2 wheels i didn't tighten properly. The center hole needs opening up a bit if using axial hexes because of the lip on the hex. The beadlock screws are stainless steel, a nice touch.

Just to say i ran it on 4s a couple of days ago and blew a universal on the rear driveshaft which is off an emaxx after 2 minutes. i was using some old ansmann 1/10 truggy wheels on dirt just for a test run. must order some mip's i guess.

Well just got back from a beach test and after 5 minutes it blew the rear universal on the driveshaft. Obviously e maxx shafts are not good enough for this beast. I got some junfac shafts a couple of days ago so will have to get them fitted.

Power is good, too much power is fun

Do you have them in yet? Are you going out in the morning to test them out?
Let us know, we're all anxiously waiting the results.

Well I'm away from home at house by a beach. ( its 6 degrees C with 20-30 mph winds. ! "shiver"). The emaxx shaft is fixed, but it won't last long I reckon. The junfac shafts I do have are at home 70 miles away. The long centre shaft needs modifying to fit them anyway as the junfacs have a 5mm hole, while the centre shaft is 6mm with flats that fit the emaxx driveshaft. The power just pops the universal pins out, I have a spare set but that's all.

The suspension needs setting up as springs are too hard each end. Also the cheap servo can't keep the steering straight under power. I can only give it half power and then it goes out of control. The good thing is that half power is as fast as the old land rover foff on full power

The truck is very stable though, and rarely flips or rolls so that's good. I might give a run today and maybe get some video. After all the time and hassle building this, I'm glad it's running and knew I would have to spend some time on setting it up.
