Wraith FOFF Question
 

Hi guys I'm a newbie at the whole FOFF scene. My question is, is that I have a wraith running a Tekin pro 4 3300 with a mamba max esc, I recently put the 2.2 iliminator paddles on it. So what gearing would work best for me and is the Wraith 2 speed tranny a good idea? Any thoughts on the subject would be very helpful.

I think he is referring to the rc4wd 2spd conversion....


As for gearing? Well, your just gonna have to trial and error until your happy or it starts getting too hot....

The gearing would be difficult to judge with a 2 speed trans I reckon. But on my old foff i ran 32 pitch gears at 56 spur/14 pinion. You would need to know the ratio's in the trans to work it out, or just use trial and error to get it right.

Are you running 3s? With the trans reduction 3s or higher is almost a must to keep the paddles moving.

Stock trans ratio is 2.6 if your a number cruncher. Not including spur/pinion ratio.

I would start with gearing pinion/spur combos first. Like suggested, use a known combo like 56/14 and go up in pinion from there. Gearing adjustments at first need to be made based on heat of your equipment, not how fast you want to go.

If you've maxed out how hot you can run your electronics and it's still not fast enough, then it is time to gear back down and volt up.

Most likely you'll be buying a few pinions until you get a sweet spot. Every truck is different on different terrain.

I would hold off on the AX2 trans as the high gear is only 1.78. For pinions and spurs are much cheaper. I would only look at this option if have just run out of gearing choices for more speed and your temps are still ice cold.

I'm running a 2100kv motor with 56/14. 2.2 paddles are slow on 4s . I'm also running 2.2 bloggers and the added tire height really wakes it up.

3300kc on 3s may be in the sweet spot with small rubber. Like others said trial and error. Number crunch only goes so far.

I wouldn't run a 2sp. More to go wrong.
