Default Gmade R1 Build - Blue Gecko

The Box, Shipping from korea was retarded fast.

The parts inside the box.

The kit in stock formation.

A couple crappy youtube vids testing the stock kit.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHkPH_8Xdfc

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mr9UbirWndU

Now that I'm done testing the stock kit it's time to start changing things a bit.

Some clearance, the aluminum links are purty, but they don't slide well on rocks.

They still need to be shaved/rounded with the dremel

and the new skid, get those links inboard.

Well that's it for now.

What all do you have in store for this rig?
Also, what was the stock clearance vs the new height?

DO WANT! Where did you buy this from? I checked the website and could not find a place to purchase without "loggin in." Thanks in advance for the info.

The center clearance is the same, the link clearance is what has imporved and after testing it, it's a BIG improvement.

Don't really have any plans I'm just building and cutting parts as I go.

Just looking at some youtube vids of the guys at Junfac testing the durability of the crawler.

Pretty funny. They may be good designers, but they need to work on their pitching and putting skills

I would like to see the full built up crawler get tossed into the wall and see if nothing brakes...... it is easy to throw a lightweight plastic chassis and show that nothing happens.

I could do that with a Wheelie king chassis all day and get the same basic results.

Anyhow I love the crawler it looks just awsome.

LOL!!!! That video is a bit retarded, but I'm sure they are trying to compare it to metal tubers and trying to prove it won't just shatter.

I can't believe that with all the modding going on on this site and in the crawler world that they would release this kit with outboard lower links. Have they not seen that just about every AX10 owners FIRST task is to do that?!

Nice work on the skid and links though!

Does the kit come w/ a pinion? If so what's the T count? Any impression on how it performs compared to anything else you might have driven?

No pinion.

How does it perform? Well that's hard to say what are you looking for? If your looking for a competitive crawler it's not, it would hang with a box stock axial no problem and the quality is as good as Axials, which isn't saying a lot. But will it out crawl a bully or berg, no.

Out of the Box it's a great Basher, the parts are nice quality, Junfac has options coming, the portal axle design is very nice, once it has a dig and some tires and tweaks it would be right at home with shafty comp crawlers.

Well got a small amount of time on mother's day to get some work done, it's risky firing up the CNC on Mother's Day, but she was busy watching the DVR.

Axle Plates

and redone shocks

Thanks for the reply. I do have a berg now which is very capable but I'm looking for something different. I was hoping the r1 would be it but I'm also considering a lcc or a rock force (not very popular but I like it). Thanks again, I'm looking forward to seeing where your build is headed.

No the tires are just standard tires and wheels

junfac.com sells them

Parts Mounted, Need to check lengths and order proper counter sunk 3mm hardware for the plates.

Nice axle plates

Any idea on the stock weight?
I've been looking at motors, trying to decide on the balance between speed/torque.
Thanks

nice job on the shocks...

the kit does come with a 12t pinion for a 40.24 gear ratio. my kit is around 5.5 lbs with a 540, 3s 1300

this trucks only downfall for comp is the width.

My bad, yea it does come with a 12t 32p pinion.

Yea the width is an issue, but nothing that can't be worked around, it does make sidehills very stable.....

For those wondering about the axle plates, 3mm hardware is on it's way as soon as I have the hardware I'll get the plates online for sale.

I've been up since 4 with the baby, I need to drop the oldest off at school, when I get back and get some coffee I'll post some pics of how the R1 is coming along.
