Default G Made R1 Shocks

O.K they look really cool but they leak leak leak. I am using stock oil and building the sprung setup. I used team associated green slime when putting them together and that usually works great but not this time. I guess thread sealent tape. Anybody got any opinions using the stock shocks?

Try using better shock oil. Start with 30wt oil.

Agree 100% a higher density oil might solve the problem.

I have the shorter version of those on a rock racer for quite some time now and they haven't leaked a single drop.
Even with the stock oil.
When building them you should be real careful with the cartridges cause they are very soft plastic and when you think they are fully threaded they still need a couple of turns to be tight.

I've built other gmade shocks that worked perfect and never leaked a drop.

Sure enough, I wasn't tightening them enough. The plastic is so soft I was worried about stripping them. Thanks!

I just put a set together for my crawler build, they leaked until I tightened them more but not a drop since. I was afraid of stripping them too but they take a lot more than you'd think.
