Default G Made R1 Rock Buggy LED Light System

I really like the hop up light buckets for the R1. (Junfacs site) It says they are for 5 volt only and I do not understand how to make that work without frying the LEDs. I use a 2 cell lipo for power. What if I wanted to hook up the 2 light and the 3 light kit?

Could you explain about resistors. Sounds cheaper than a BEC

You just wire the proper ohm rated resistor in line to your LED's and nothing else is needed

It is not a simple cut and dry answer. This calculator should help you out:

the pictures on junfac's website suggest they already inlcude the necessary resistors...seems pretty simple to me.

That's what I thought but I've been to busy at work to research it.
I do believe I'll be ordering the LED's and axle skid plates along with the R1 this week... or next. It's usually growing dark by the time I get home from work and sometimes I can't tell what direction I'm facing!

I'm still hoping to see the perfect motor combo before I buy.

I currently have an extra Traxxas Velineon 3500 from a Rustler (along w/esc, servo and 11.1 lipo) but I'm not sure it'll fit.

It's 55mm long (Junfac says 540, that's 54mm right?) with a 36mm Dia.

It may be too much for the portals though... I'm hoping someone else tries it before me

Guess I will email Junfac about LEDs before I burn em up. I too am looking for the perfect motor. I was thinking about the Velineon too but I am not sure about wear and tear. The G mADE 23T is what I would like but it's sold out.
On another note I think that the R1 should have it's own catagory.

I dont understand...if the kit comes with the proper resistors how would you burn them up? and what "new category" are you suggesting for the R1?

The 5 volt thing confuses me. The Junfac site clearly says 5 volt only many different times including on the online instructions that shows the resistors being assembled. THAT is the cause for my concern.
I am suggesting the R1 has it's own section just like the AX10 or Venom Creeper etc etc

So you use the resistors that are provided in the kit, assemble the lights per the online instructions, plug them into your receiver, and you're good to go. whats so hard about this???

If the light kit is to be run from the receiver, and the receiver kicks out 5-6v then the kit-supplied resistors will be ok
For any other power source, or anything greater than 6v, you'll need to source your own resistors.
Thank you for your kind help.

Look at twinsets post. I just could not put it into words. But thanks for making me feel stupid.

I get all my LEDs from this site and use thier resistors .... I use the 470ohm ones on each LED and havent cooked any yet.

http://www.oznium.com/led

If your output voltage is 6V you can also split that between 2 LEDs by wiring them in series, cuts the voltage down to 3V per.

I was told you must use a separate resistor for each LED. Why cant you just use one resistor for all of the lights?
