Default "Urban" R1

I won some R1 skins from the awesome staff at RC Rock Crawlers - TCS Crawlers so it gives me a good reason to build another truck.

I started by cutting up the skid to inboard the lower links and drilled it for a scx transmission.

Then I built some simple trusses. I'm not a big fan of servo on axle but its simple and works.

Here it sits as a roller. I've got a long ways to go, but it's coming along.

Still making progress....at a turtles pace

Crammed a 3s battery and servo winch with internal drum up front.

I used the factory battery plate upside down. I mounted the rx and BEC to the top and an upside down ae2 to the bottom.

I started making panels out of aluminum. I'll also make some kind of cover for the electronics, someday.

I chucked up some unobtanium in the CNC and made a fairlead.....Ok, so really I made it out of cutting board on a drill press, but who is keeping track?

I wrapped the top and bottom of the grill around the cross members to hold it in place. It's pretty secure.

Nice truck dood!

The driver that I still need to paint is from the HPI mini trophy. Still have to make a few panels, few scale details and some suspension work.

I like the tires but I'm a little nervous about running the plastic wheels on 3s, and they need some hubs.

Hand made fire extinguisher and a cut down axial shifter.

Fuel cell and tool box

Radiator

So how's that for an R1?

That's awesome mate, not a lot of R1s are scale accurate.
