Default outrunner motor

Hey guys,

Just getting into the crawling world with a r1. Looking at motors and the outrunners have intrigued me in their ability to have more torque.

Any recommendations on outrunners that will fit a r1?

Thanks!

for the standard pinion you need a 1/8" shaft.
Most of the outrunner needs a 5mm bore pinion.
If you have an solution for the pinion take a outrunner with 14 magnet poles and 12 stator arms or go with the sensored Holmes

Thanks Toy Master. I don't know too much about out runners so I didn't know they were generally 5mm bores. I take it there are no pinion adaptors for 5mm to the gmade gear pitch?

I guess I have more reading to do.

Not all outrunners have 5mm rotor shafts. There are adapters http://gshobby.com/node/222354

I tried a Scorpion HK-2221-12 V2 Brushless Outrunner in my R1 a few years ago. Great for bashing around but not good for crawling because they are non-sensored.

Shane's GMade R1 Rock Buggy Build video a couple posts down from #66

Also, check out the Tekin Redline Inrunner Brushless motors. Great for crawling or high wheel speed. Are a sensored motor, so you'll need an ESC that handles sensored motors.

Thanks for the info Szczerba,

Still doing my research and with some info from Toy Master, i was able to find out about the quark ESCs.

Looks like they have good control over unsensored brushless motors.

found the following video that sorta provides an example of it.

Quark 33 Pro Car with a BM-16 outrunner in an AX-10 Scorpion - YouTube

Gonna pursue this avenue I think.
