Does anyone make something stronger? I've snapped the pins out of 3 of them and this last break included the wheel axle. Thanks ORA

I know the stock axles suck!!!! I have two sets of them and ended up pulling them out and replaced the whole axles with ax10 axles! I broke something in them every time I drove it. I keep going back and forth on whether or not I want to sink anymore money in them. As far as I know there is not any off the shelf bolt in upgraded axle shafts for them. People buy wheely king knuckles and cvd's and modify them to work with the r1 axles.

Novak Goat 3S Crawler Brushless System 21.5 + BEC using both 7.4 (2s) and 11.1 (3s). Snapped using both. I ride the dunes (quads) and take it with me and run around camp. It's not quite hard-packed and has a lot of loose sand and I crawl over the fire wood pile. I don't bash it and I don't run it fast, like my wraith.

You can always upgrade to a TLT steering setup. Alot more strength and more steering. I assume all the parts can still be bought at RCP*Crawlers They held up to my JK that was 8.5lbs. Just had trouble keeping the small bearings together in the portal gear setup. I never did buy fancy high quality bearings though. Front Steer Szczerba's JK (Minus some doors) Rear Steer Szczerba's JK (Minus some doors)

OK, so going through your thread and trying to get a list of things I will need. I have 4WS so everything would need to be doubled. Here is what I am thinking a full parts list would be. 1. 2X - RCP Crawlers Super-Max Clearance TLT Aluminum Knuckle (2) 2. 4X - RCP X MIP CVD Part - Outer Axle 3. 4X - RCP X MIP CVD Part - Short Bone Axle 4. ? - RCP X MIP CVD Part - Cross Pin (handful of these - I need extras anyway) 5. ? - RCP X MIP CVD Part - Set Screw (handful of these - I need extras anyway) 6. 8X - RCP X MIP CVD Part - 6x11x4mm Bearing 7. 4X - RCP X MIP CVD Part - Stock Hex Hub ---- [Or should I go for the 1/4 long hex?] 8. 4X - RCP X MIP CVD Part - Coupling

Yep, Eric is right too. I think I listed it in my build but it is like $62 an axle to upgrade to TLT stuff, per axle. Just go slow on grinding the flat spot to fit in the portal gears. Don't wanna take too much off the shaft. Last edited by Szczerba; 01-04-2013 at 05:49 PM.

Ok so the Wheely king shafts cut to size works in the Gmade portals? Correct? Do you need to change the hub and carriers?

The shafts fit fine once you grind the flat spot and the Wheely King knuckles fit the GMade c-hubs.

It looks like if you go with the full TLT you need the c-hubs, but if you go with the XVD's you can use the same GMade c-hubs, and it is about $50-60 less.
