Default Wheels and Tires

I couldn't find much via searching so I'll go ahead and ask some unabashed noob-questions at the risk of being flamed.

Question 1: Is there a standard bolt-pattern for 2.2" wheels? That is, will pretty much any brand of wheel be compatible with the R1?

Question 2: What about tires? Will any 2.2" tire fit on any 2.2" wheel?

Question 3: What are some general characteristics to look for in a wheel? I get the impression that heavier is better and that makes sense intuitively. Are full alloy wheels better than plastic?

Not sure what you mean by bolt pattern. If you are referring to the bead lock rings then no they are not all compatible.

Pretty much.

Not necessarily it is preferred to use the weight on the knuckle/axle as opposed to the wheel/tire as the wheel/tire setup adds that much rolling mass to your drive train.

If you are using wheels for weight then try to use heavier wheels in the front and lighter in the back.

Thanks for the response. I was mistaken about bolt pattern. It occurred to me after posting that most RC vehicles use splines and hex nuts to secure wheels instead of acorn nuts like full-size vehicles. So what I was asking is whether or not most wheels from other manufacturers are compatible with the R1's axles and knuckles.

For the most part yes.
The more offset to the back side if the wheel the better.

I know Losi bead locks from the LNC work well as do narrowed XR10 wheels.

So. I am still interested in knowing what wheels you guys have been able to fit on your stock R1 axles/hubs. Also, which tires have you been able to fit on the Gmade 2.2 GT wheels? I had no problems getting HB Rovers on them.

Although already 'resolved', some wheels come with hubs...
