One favor to ask. Can you post a pic of this rig from the bottom showing the driveshaft angles and links? I'm mulling it over in my head as to buy a Wraith Spawn skid or make one that's slightly wider. Because it looks like in stock configuration the offset ar60 pumpkins are as wide as the chassis itself. |

Here are a couple of pix from underneath: I tried a few different things with driveshaft angles, including having the pumpkins offset to the same side as the tranny outputs. When I did that, the driveshafts ended up getting sandwiched between the upper and lower links and not allowing the suspension to flex. What I ended up with looks a bit extreme, but it works. If I were going to do it again, I'd probably explore the possibility of using bent links to create enough space between upper and lower links to allow switching the offsets to the opposite side. Thanks. That is exactly what keeps playing out in my head. I was contemplating getting a Wraith skid in hopes that the same geometry would play out as with the Wraith. Then I could simply use the Wraith bent links I run on my Honcho. But not knowing if the skid would be the right length front to back I haven't bought one. I'll just get a piece of delrin and just make one now. One last question(s). Do you have a 'custom' skid? What is the width of it and what are the lengths of the cross braces in relation? I ask because I found some m3 threaded links in packs of 10 on fleaBay with various lengths available. These are standoffs for quad drones and aren't the best aluminum but should manage for braces. If they come in the right length, these would be much easier than making individual ones out of aluminum stock and then tapping threads for each end. |

Time to resurrect this one, as there are some newsworthy updates. First, let's answer a long overdue question (sorry for the delay, Brake Weight): Quote:
I always had it in mind to see how much of an interior I could squeeze in here but never got around to it. Fresh off my first completely scratch built floor pan and dash in Roo's 10.2 truggy, I was feeling confident and decided to have a go at it. Before I could start building anything, I had some cleaning up to do. Look at this mess: Sometimes things have to get a little bit worse before they can get better. I decided on a 2-pronged approach. First, I replaced the Expert 7701 servo with a Holmes Hobbies BLS SHV500 v2, which would allow me to get rid of the external BEC and free up some valuable space in the tiny cockpit: Then, I relocated the ESC underneath the hood and shortened the battery and motor leads: Ooops...looks like I broke it. No worries, though. Once I had it back together, the difference was night and day: It was time to get to work. I decided to hide the receiver in the dash. Since it was still cozy in there, I knew I'd need to use every nook and cranny. I started with the low point on the electronics tray: I've become fond of using an empty cereal box to make templates as I go: So far so good, so I continued: Just enough room for the tiny Futaba R 2106 GF receiver: Some magnets to hold the dash in place: The dash needed a lid. Instead of magnets, I decided on a friction fit: It was time to recruit a driver. I placed an ad on Craigslist and this guy showed up: He looked the part and seemed quite interested. Then he started getting a bit concerned: And for good reason... Ouch! But it was all in the name of science, and the end result was spot on: | |

LOL. I'm well past my hybrid R1. It is a go getter with scx10 axles though. I tried the ar60s and didn't have as much luck with them since they wanted to hang the pumpkins on everything. I may could have used taller tires I suppose. The interior looks good. I stuck my Rx and ESC under the front panel and it does good. |
