Looks like you never got an answer on this question. I'd dig hearing whether the short goes up front or in the rear as well. The stock driveshafts are the same length. Eyeballing the underside of the R1 chassis, it looks like the distance is about the same between the front axle to tranny and rear axle to tranny. I guess it's time to measure.

Did some testing and the short Junfac seems too short to rely on for my axle set-up. Ordered a Junfac CC01 driveshaft off Amazon that's the same length (107-142mm) as the longer one in the R1 package.

If you buy the factory upgrade kit the shorter is for the rear (93 to 105).
That said I blew out my rear carbon steel and replaced it with the plastic stocker, which now has more packs on it vs the failed one, meanwhile the front carbon steel takes a beating and keeps running strong.

The stock driveshafts seems pretty solid. Is there an updated version of the universal design with the c-clip that is less prone to the yoke popping? There's a video review from RC Universe on Youtube that shows the the universals popping apart over and over. Looking at them it's hard to imagine that happening.

Saw that, that was my reason to upgrade. Just ran 3 more packs, shafts are fine , blew 3 bearings , my last cvd and popped a tire off the beadlocks
Make that 4 bearings and 2 axle pins !
These ruptures have so much grip and side bite.
The Tekin 17.5 redline I'm using is perfect torque and wheelspeed with stock gearing
