Nice rig there, I also run a wraith axled R1. I very much enjoy driving it. Just waiting on a sensored motor so i can crawl instead of launching at everything lol. |

Thanxs, I'm looking forward to seeing how she performs now and not have to worry about frustrating breakdowns. The only thing left that is original to the R1 is the chassis, skid and upper links, which are actually Gmade option parts. Would've been cheaper to buy these parts separate and then build the R1! |

Maybe, I added mine up and I'm well over 1000 bucks in upgrade parts. All bought separately

The last piece of the puzzle has arrived....the RC Bros Knuckle Weight kit for VP knuckles. I also added a VP Ti steering tie rod and a new set of Pit Bull Rock Beast XOR tires with Crawler Innovations Double Deuce 5.5” Comp Cut Inner / Firm Outer foams. The plan is to get out Saturday with a group of crawlers...I'm looking forward to putting this R1 on the rocks with all of it's recent changes. |

I put the R1 through it's paces today and the results were astonishing. At the last minute, I decided to use the ProLine 2.2 Super Swampers XL tires for the extra bit of height since this machine is fairly low. This was the first time I used these tires and was very impressed with their performance, especially in the wet (It rained pretty much the whole time). The whole machine is dialed in almost perfectly. I'm not going to tune it any more because I'm likely going to go with the new Vanquish F9 Currie axles; XR width. The Vanquish AR60 axles are little too wide for my liking for the R1, although the stability is sensational. Not one issue was encountered on the rocks today and i'm very happy now that the Portal axles were swapped out. The RC Bros knuckle weights made a huge difference in the balance of the machine and I was able to power up some nearly vertical rock faces without flipping backwards; I highly recommend them. After running in the rain today, I have already taken the Tekin ROC 412 motor apart and waterproofed it with MG Chemicals's Urethane Conformal Coating and GE Silicone II. The MMP and servo were already waterproofed. |

After watching the video, I have put slightly longer bottom shock mounts onto the ProLine Powerstroke shocks to increase the R1's ground clearance. https://youtu.be/uy2iF_1oa3U Last edited by bilinvic; 12-15-2015 at 05:38 PM. |

Thanxs...I'm the type who can't leave well enough alone and needs to modify!!! If you stay with brushed power, you should be fine...keeps spare gears handy just in case though!

Real good day out with the R1 today, a grueling 5 hour crawl up Mill Hill and back....and nothing broke! It was great turn out with 19 machines to start. The R1 ran incredibly well. Could stand to have another 1/4 inch or so of ground clearance though. In this photo, the R1 is perfectly balanced on two tires. |

Just went through your thread that rig is sick. I'd love to piece together something similar to yours. I'd like to get an r1 kit but not sold on the portal axles, maybe I can get just the chassis? I like the axial driveline conversion.
