txbart: so do you think the already available Vanquish AR60 "scale" (clamping) c-hubs would work then?

I always thought they called the clamping style "scale".

But maybe they know something I don't.

I tried a set of the VP “scale” clampers. Even clamping them as much as I could, there was no engagement. The GOM axle tube diameter is just too small to work with any thing Axial or Axial related. It’s close, it looks like it absolutely should work, but it doesn’t.

Most unfortunate, we should not need to buy optional parts to fix a new kit! these "option" parts should have been included with the kit, I'll pass for now, hopefully G-Made fixes this kit.

Do you think an AR60 axle would be a direct bolt on replacement?

That would open up a lot as far as axle swap options... including some nice vanquish Currie axles.

I don't have my yeti around for reference, but it seems pretty close.

They include a axle mount for the servo, & the options page shows an upgraded version of that. It’s already been said that the trailing arms are identical, So I’m certain that a set of AR60 axles would bolt on up (provided you aren’t trying to use any of the GOM parts at the axle).

Yeah, I could understand if this was the RTR, where the power, etc. is pre-determined to work with it as-is.

I guess they don't have a RTR vs Kit where they can give incentives for the kit like Axial does with RTR vs Kit.

I laugh at the GMade wanna bees.
If you would actually buy them, you might be shocked. The only really bad stock part on my R1 were the shocks..... not a surprise . The plastic is not the flexy Axial stuff, the gears always LOOKED weak, but I beat the snot out of them without failure.

I'd have to say my Sawback has served me well. So I'm still hopeful it's just worrying over nothing. It's been out a month in Korea, and really haven't heard too much yet... at least not out here.

These just need to be built out and driven.... and then we'll see.

My brothers build has gone alright, though he's had some concerns along the way. As was mentioned earlier the slipper clutch doesn't sit flat and causes the spur gear to wobble around, its pretty noisy too. we dont have all the electronics yet so it just a roller.

A few things I observed:
The Dogbone axles need to go if you want more steering out of it.

Dig is working but we were unable to get it to shift into second gear, though I didn't have much time to look it over and the end points had not been set (I think the instructions had been cast aside at this point for the worst).

the sintered metal gears look like they'll need replacing to be durable, but time will tell.

The rear shock mount is awful lonely, could use some extra support i'm guessing.

Dont get me wrong, I really like this rig and think it will perform well.

The gears really look crappy, but I was totally wrong. What they needed was a setscrew to snug the axle tang.

My brother figured out his issue with second gear, he installed the shift fork wrong, so not the kit's fault.

I'm hoping to see it in action this weekend.

EDIT: here's a few pics I've taken along the way

One thing I really liked about building this kit is that the parts don't have logos on them in every possible place.

All the vaterra and axials I have built have their logo or design on every free space they could find. The bomber being the worst culprit for this.

The parts look cool on those kits, But I like the simple look of these gom parts more I think.

The more I mess with these axles the more I like them..

I think I'm going to try and fit 38/13 gears and slap it on my yeti for a day.

Let me know if you think the aluminum bearing caps for the diff in the axles are necessary. They're so expensive for such a small part... and you need a set for each axle!

BTW, my sway bar and trailing arms came in yesterday.

Some specs a member from another forum got on the trucks that were running in GMade's GOM video.

I wonder if any of them were running upgraded parts or box stock.

I have been wondering that same thing. Very pricey for what they are.

As of right now, They don't seem totally necessary. The aluminum motor mount seems like a better option if it was between the two.

But I still havnt run mine.

Five minutes on a buffing wheel and the diff covers look really shiny.

I don't know if it's an improvement. But it's something.

What's interesting is that when they first put the options page up, I saw upgraded knuckles, chubs, and the HD diff locker. Those parts have since disappeared from the option parts page.
