From Big Squid for those not clicking the link...

"Here we go, a new release from the folks at GMade. New from the G crew is the GOM GR-01 Rock Buggy. The GOM comes in kit form so you can make your own custom changes while you build. The buggy also sports a 2 speed transmission, a dig system for making those tight gates, and a beefy full-time 4wd system. For sizing, the GOM is a tenth scaler that is shod with 2.2″ sized wheels."

Most of us couldn't care less about digs or 2-speeds. I guess GMade didn't get that memo and it looks like they have developed an overly complicated trans for nothing. The new axles really excite me though. And this is a good looking rig overall.

Very interesting...I suspect the battery tray is rear mounted?

Can't really tell from these pics, but it looks like the driveshafts are even with the links. So it's low on the axle.

Looks like the battery tray sits on top the transmission and the side panels swing open for access.

Looks pretty cool. I'm wondering if there will be a way to flip the dig and just make it into a disconnect to go from 2wd to 4wd. That would be fun in a scale truck. I like 2speeds!

I was wondering were the DIG servo was, but maybe there only one

As a guy on FB said, "My guess would be that dig is only in 1st gear so the servo would shift from 2nd back to 1st, back to 1st+dig off 3pos 3ch s suggested above"

And for the ones wondering where the battery rack is

I like the look of it so far, but it definitely looks like I'd be lowering it first thing.

As an owner of a GMade R1, I have hopes....
One, the transmission was the strongest part on my R1.
Two, the "dig" on the R1 was a joke, without massaging and fiting it worked erratically at best.
Three I'm looking at what appears to be a transfer case, but is a dig? That's pretty scale working.
Four I hope they don't have the awful Phillips hardware, I never used any of the stock screws on myR1 !

Two speed ? Might be a real hit in this if they geared the axles low enough.
Some of us understand and use two speeds.

This definitely has my interest. I'd be interested to see what hop-ups G-Made has planned for it.

That battery tray doesn't look like the best idea. With the large variation in battery pack dimensions today I expect most packs to rattle around and some not fitting at all.
Please enlighten me about the axles; I don't see anything remarkable about them. Yet, I see quite a few enthusiast remarks, so I'm probably missing something.

I think the battery tray and location will be a hit. Foam blocks for individual batteries, I run 4300 SMC/SPC in my Yeti, small foam glued in keeps it in place.

I liked the idea of the Yeti, with its IFS and live rear axle, but it never quite met my expectations. It sat low, and the open front diff limited traction. It was fun as a basher, but I didn't have a great place to run it. This looks interesting, though. It sits higher and has a solid front axle, so it might work better where I drive. I wonder what it'll cost. It might be time to sell another rc car or two...

Wouldn't think so,My R1 was reasonable for the kit , Phillips screws vs hex will be a big deal

I hope you are correct, I can tell I want one already. I also hope the drive train is beefed up. Hows the stock drive train on the R1?

Simple but sturdy.trans was simple gears, worked well and had little wear . Portals worked well after replacing most stock bearings with a fast eddies kit. I did eat the universal for the rear driveshaft, found the stock lasted as long as the upgraded metal ones.MIP did not make a set, but could be made .
I ran a Tekin 17.5 on 3s

I doubt it will be expensive. GMade kits are a great value. I only own Sawbacks, but they are a good design, very durable in stock form, they perform well, and the kits are priced competitively.

I was planning to get a Bomber in the future, but I might have to consider this as well when it comes out.
