I keep following and wondering why ? I don’t have a GOM, but did have a built R1. I had driveshaft issues and finally sold it as I couldn’t make a simple long term fix. That said I never lost one pin, but did shatter end bells. I suspect my issue was my fault, as I ran extreme angles, always had rear failure, never front. I thought of Traxxas driveshafts for 5mm outputs Hang up and Drive |

Now that I took the CVA out it turns out that the pin didn't break after all, just a retainer failure so it had come loose. I suppose the glue didn't hold when I had accidentally put the retainer so that the "gap" in it was quite near to one end of the pin so it probably pushed the retainer end up and slipped out despite the glue. But I suppose grease could've prevented the glue from really working to begin with. I read about that heatshrink tubing trick, but I don't think I have big enough tubing to do it with. But I did reorient the retainer now so that the gap is about 90 degrees from the pin ends, so hopefully it'll stay in place better.

13mm heatshrink will do. I got a heatshrink set from my local car parts place for £5. Got loads of different sizes in there.

A bit of video from today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wr29kjHuX44 Also took a second video but for some reason it has serious focusing issues so not very nice to look at... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2Tj7rj2hpk Did a lot of faster bashing in the bumpy terrain as well, but due to the longer distances it's not much to look at for video. No breakages but lost one M3 nut from the servo horn screw (end of video 2) and had pin problems again. First time I reinstalled it on the spot, then later BOTH pins came off and I called it a day as the battery seemed to have lost punch by that time anyway. The second pin actually went MIA as well, while the other was recovered from the ground. One thing I learned is that I should never give throttle if the car is on its side etc - it could lead to getting the car upright like I did in the video once but that's one situation where the pins seem to come off really easily, it's what happened the second time and I think it's what happened yesterday as well. I'm not too used to 4WD cars with universals. Last edited by tvih; 04-23-2018 at 02:37 PM. |

Which 3s Lipo battery would fit right on the GOM battery compartment?

I run a 5000mah 35c 3S Venom. Fits in Nicely. Lasts ages...well it lasted longer with a 3800 castle vs the 3100 Tekin thats in there now on the same gearing.

They do not have the GM0020095 ones though. Let me know the other part numbers and I can look them up for you, and see what Custom Crawlerz can do for you if you wanted. Anything that HRP has in stock, Custom Crawlerz can also get for you. www.customcrawlerz.com Jeff@CustomCrawlerz.com | |

By the way, anyone have experiences with any decent low-budget tires? Not that the stock ones would feel terrible for my type of driving. I've been considering trying AUSTAR's IROK or Super Swamper clones, I heard good things about them but that was mostly from FTX Outlaw drivers, not really crawler use since the "bashing" part of my driving is more forgiving that the crawling, I suppose.

| Re: Coming soon .....GMADE GOM-GR1 Rock Buggy I liked the look of the Voodoo U4's, but $40 per pair is hilarious considering they don't even include foam. I found RC4WD has a more reasonably-priced selection, with a lot at $20-$25 per pair including foam. I only have experience with their X3 soft compound, which is quite a bit softer than the stock GOM tires.

Watch out for the size on the cheap austars. They will be considerably smaller than the GOMs stock ones. In fact the stock GOM ones are bigger than most out there except for the XL tyres... Smaller tyres will give shorter gearing, so less top speed...less work for the motor. I put on a set of Hyrax. My son is looking at some J-concept ruptures as they are nearly 6" in size. They are cheaper as well...but seem to be out of stock in a lot of places.

You could try some of the 2.2" Duratrax tires. I've been eying a set of 2.2 Duratrax Deep Woods
