| R1 Axle Question
Hi all, I recently picked up an R1, and for a $300 RTR crawler, Im pretty happy with it. I decided to put some 20mm wheel spacers on it and hit up a local crawling spot. A 20 foot tumble later, and I sheared off the threaded portion of the rear axle. Is this an expected outcome for spacing all that wheel weight out so far, or is this just an inherent danger of rolling 20 feet down what I estimated to be a 30-40% slope?

A little bit of both... axle extensions put a ton of stress on the axles themselves.

Thanks for the input. Im thinking I might go with something narrower, or even not at all. It seems like a wide enough wheelbase for most of the stuff I was going up against.

I beat the tar out of mine, tall jconcepts ruptures. Ate the small bearings, never broke any axles. I suspect the wideners did it. Did you put those on to increase steering? |
