Re: Soze's GMADE GOM GR01 Build I forgot to take some photos during the beginning steps, but I'll remember going forward. Steps 1-13: Front and Rear Axles GMADE GA60 Brass steering knuckle bushing (4) GM30076 https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4445/...954c7bb7_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4477/...40cf9235_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4495/...95cc3e8b_b.jpg |
Re: Soze's GMADE GOM GR01 Build Where did you find the sway bar? The few places I've seen it listed all seem to be out of stock at the moment. |

Re: Soze's GMADE GOM GR01 Build Used Versachem Brake Caliper Grease to grease the gears. Steps 14-18: Transfer Case https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4506/...4ed8bd67_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4507/...98af7d7e_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4490/...79c0eb66_b.jpg |
Re: Soze's GMADE GOM GR01 Build Used Versachem Brake Caliper Grease to grease the gears. Also added the GR01 Aluminum slipper plate (GM30073). Temporarily using a SkyRC Ares Pro 540 Competition 8.5T (4100kv) brushless motor for now. If I use this, I'll be using the Castle Mamba X Esc. If I go the brushed route, I'll probably use the Hobbywing 1080 Esc + Maybe the Traxxas Titan 21T. Steps 19-27: Transmission https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4461/...031486c0_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4444/...42247c71_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4512/...2449e0d4_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4452/...9246352a_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4496/...85e36b89_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4479/...f6d2df20_b.jpg |
Re: Soze's GMADE GOM GR01 Build Those axles are so good looking. I'm looking forward to watching this build! "thumbsup" |
Re: Soze's GMADE GOM GR01 Build Steps 28-37: Links Bought the upgraded trailing arms https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4454/...a3a5e292_b.jpg Comparison of stock trailing arms with the upgraded ones https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4451/...19d282e8_b.jpg Links attached to skid https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4449/...23a7c8e8_b.jpg |
Re: Soze's GMADE GOM GR01 Build Steps 38-45: Lower Chassis Part 1 Transfer case, shift servo (Savox SC-0254mg), and transmission attached to skid. Using a SkyRC Ares Pro 8.5T (4100kv) brushless motor for now. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4535/...14d48338_b.jpg Shift servo calibration using the 3ch 3position switch on the FlySky GT3C https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4581/...9d929e23_b.jpg |

Re: Soze's GMADE GOM GR01 Build Step 47: Steering Servo I skipped this step earlier, because I'm using the Savox SC-1283SG Servo. The kit comes with pre-molded servo spacers that encase the servo ears. They are pre-molded to fit most servos that use thinner plastic servo ears. The Savox 1283 is metal cased, and has thicker servo ears so the pre-molded servo spacer didn't fit. What I ended up doing was to use Yeah Racing M3 3mm spacers to space the servo up. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4558/...e16b7db5_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4557/...a5674fae_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4533/...87a01810_b.jpg |
Re: Soze's GMADE GOM GR01 Build Steps 61-68: Shocks I really need to get some more specific tools to do some of these build steps like the shocks. I'm sure I can do a much better job, but for now I'll keep winging it and improvising with the tools I have. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4531/...7661f2aa_b.jpg Applying some Noleen grease (found on eBay) (thanks Jato!) https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4525/...80770b59_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4566/...482e83f8_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4553/...564a8631_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4552/...6d6f6ea2_b.jpg Bought the upgraded metal rear shock brace for the GOM https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4567/...1ce236df_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4579/...ba2f0fa0_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4534/...680c4ef5_b.jpg |
Re: Soze's GMADE GOM GR01 Build Steps 69-74: Steering & Panhard Links/Rods So, I did run into a snag here. The panhard axle mount that the panhard rod attaches to on the axle uses a countersunk screw to secure it into place. The "eye" of that mount for that countersunk screw isn't very sturdy. Well... like someone from another forum that did the same thing that I didn't really remember until I did it myself.... I overtightened it by hand and "split" goes the eye of the panhard mount. Grrrr . It will hold for now as the other half of the eye is not broken. Anyway, I ordered the sprue that contains that particular part for now, while I wait for the upgrade metal part to show in stock at vendors. The panhard axle mount metal upgrade is one part that I WILL BE DOING. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4583/...aaf0715b_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4517/...3dccedc8_b.jpg |
Re: Soze's GMADE GOM GR01 Build So, I had some time to test fit the Castle Mamba Monster X in this truck. It does not fit in the front.... Too darn big. I guess I'll have to save it for the Bomber. After measuring the area above the receiver box that I have to work with.... the smaller Mamba X looks like it will be a spot on fit. Time to order a Mamba X... |

Re: Soze's GMADE GOM GR01 Build Anyone aware of metal hop-up gears for the transfer case / gear box? I don't see anything on RRP yet, and I'm not nuts about plastic gears on principal (though I don't have any data to suggest these would be an actual problem for the GOM). |
Re: Soze's GMADE GOM GR01 Build Quote:
The area above the receiver box can comfortably fit... 55-56mm x 37mm Mamba X is 54.4 x 35.2 x 30mm (height not an issue) |
Re: Soze's GMADE GOM GR01 Build I've succumbed to ordering from JunFac. Will take pictures of the new parts when they come in. |
