Default Shocks and teflon tape?

When using Teflon tape on the shocks is that only on the bottom thread or the cap also?
How many turns are we talking about apx here, especially on the plastic cap, don`t want the use too much and split the cap.

I've never used teflon tape on my shocks. I'm not even really clear on why someone would?

Regardless, I think you've got the right idea about not using too much, I'd think 2 wraps should be about good..

I have used teflon tape on shocks to stop leaks and I use it only on places where it leaks. Although when wrapping the bottom thread then oil is likely to exit through the hole where shock shaft passes through anyway since oil has to get pass the seals to get to bottom thread. So far have used only 1-2 wraps.

I tried Teflon tape once on plastic shocks and they leaked.

I use only enough to get it to cling to the threads. 1.5-2 wraps or so. A bit fiddly to do, but works great, I've got plastic Axial Icons that have been leak free for years.

Really needed it on G-made's transition shocks. They leaked like crazy at the bottom threads...teflon tape solved it completely.

OSRC, is it needed at the caps?

I depends on where its leaking from. If the cap leaks sure. I've only used this on shocks that leaked (I think all Axial lol)

What shocks are these anyway? I assume something from Gmade.

Whenever I've experienced a leaky shock, it's always the seal. I suppose some plastic shocks / shock caps could experience leaking at the threads though.
